SSTSIM Concorde and SimuFly's CIVA INS

I just wanted to give a shout out for these guys. I've had their bird for awhile but recently the team at SimuFly has released a 1.50 update to their CIVA INS unit. They now have the 'data card' system built in. Basically, they're like punchcards; you insert a card and it pre-programs the unit(s) with X amount of waypoints ( up to 9 ). You can set these cards up so even on a flight with lots of waypoints very close together ( departures, arrivals especially ) you can just use the interface to insert the card and POW the next set of waypoints is done. No more scrambling to type in waypoints when flying the departures/arrivals.The SSTSIM team has also released a service pack that allows for usage of the 1.50 update.Besides all of the updates, for those that haven't seen this amazing bird, you REALLY need to!! Even the VC snobs like myself ( where you refuse to fly planes without good Virtual Cockpits ) will love this plane. They modeled everything* perfectly. The roar of the engines when you apply full thrust w/ afterburners at takeoff/climb. The wind noise when the visor goes up dramatically dies down. The thick smoke when you first kick in the afterburners on takeoff/supersonic climb is awesome looking. The fast, high-AOA (Angle of Attack) approaches are so fun to fly! I've had people load up at airports and sit near the runway just to watch me land while on VATSIM. Did you know that this plane trimmed during cruise via fuel balancing? The Flight Engineer kept very busy during flights. You have the option of balancing the fuel yourself or letting the Virtual Flight Engineer do the work for you. I personally do it myself except for departure/arrival when I need to focus on flying by hand.On terms of speed, flying from England to New York in 3 hours is just awesome! There are of course many other flights you can do, Seattle to Honolulu, Heathrow to Barbados, New York to Seattle, etc... Heck, I plan on flying into Oshkosh this weekend ( they flew in there in the 90s for the show, wish I was there! ) but this is a subsonic flight.I am in no way affiliated with them, I'm just a very satisfied customer and I think they are just under-represented in the community. This is definitely one of my top 5 planes. I'm VERY picky when it comes to my payware because I want high fidelity in the systems modeling. These guys nailed it on this one. For those that have ever flown the Ready for Pushback 747-200, you'll see that depth of systems modeling in this plane. Check them out guys, I think you will absolutely fall in love with this bird like I have. http://www.sstsim.com* The one small remaining bug seems to be a SLIGHT miscalculation with the fuel burn. On a 2500nm flight, subtract 10K tons otherwise you will land a tad heavy. The team is working on it now.

Hi JeffThanks for the heads-up!I did read than an update of the INS was underway, but "underway" turned out to be quite a long time...The SSTSIM Concorde is truly a masterpiece, even though I wish they had modelled the pneumatics system as PSS did. That really seems like an omission.But I've mostly kept it in my hangar. Why? Because of the now solved inablity to store waypoints! While it adds to the realism the first couple of times, it soon gets *very* tedious to enter all those numbers all the time - even more so, as the real thing did have the ability we now get.I hope to get in some flying time this weekend!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

And in case you missed it, Rick Schaefer posted a utility called FS9toCiva to the AVSIM library...it takes an FS9 .pln file and generates a series of .awc files used by the new CIVA loader.Here's a link:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=104598I first run a plan in FSBuild, which generates an FS9 .pln file as part of the build...then I use FS9toCiva to generate the .awc files for the loader using that .pln file as input. I did a little more in-depth testing...looks like the .awc files that fs9tociva writes don't have leading zeroes in the coordinates, which are required by the CIVA ADEU.Hopefully Rick will fix that.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile
