Jet City Aircraft DC-9/Stellan Hilmerby Panel

I was wondering if anyone has successfully merged Stellan Hilmerby's excellent DC-9 panel with the JCA DC-9. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!Thanks.Pete in KORD:)

Hi,Ofcourse a merge is possible. I am flying with it frequently. :-)However, you have to use Stellans AIR and CFG file inorder to make it work as it should.BE SURE TO BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU INTEND TO OVERWRITE FIRSTSimply copy the cfg and AIR file from the installed Stellan DC9-41 to the JCA aircraft folder. Copy the Contactpoints, Lights entries from the JCA aircraft.cfg into the Aircraft.cfg file by Stellan.Finally copy all aircraft enries into the Stellan Aircraft.cfg and be sure to change to "sim=DC9-41sh" in every aircraft entry (without the quote)

Steffan: The merge worked fine until I engaged the ILS (with the FD on Radio Auto) on final. The aircraft then went into an uncontrollable nose-up attitude, lost airspeed and stalled. Any ideas?Thanks.Pete in KORD.

Hmmm,...no idea really. For me it works flawless.Try to engage the ILS befor you engage the FD on Radio Auto and see if it makes any difference.

You are welcome.Basicly it is the FDE by Stellan you are using, straight copied from his package, with only some JCA entries.Just to give you the sequence I use.1. Select LOC2. Capture the LOC3. Select ILS4. Select the Radio Auto on the FD5. Capture the GlideslopeI always fly with the "Capture the LOC before you select the ILS" sequence when flying. ;-)

Hi Staffan: Quick question. Do you know where I can get some performance charts for the DC-9, specifically, TODR (takeoff distance required). My takeoff in my DC-9-41 from KMDW yesterday used about every inch of the available 6,522 ft. runway (31C). I then learned that the DC-9 is notorious for a long takeoff roll. That combined with the high temperature 23c made the takeoff very interesting. This would be very helpful in planning future flights.Thanks.Pete in KORD

For Take Off Distance Required, I like to use the charts published by Boeing and available at http://www.boeing.com/commercial/airports/plan_manuals.html . They have charts for (I think) almost every Boeing and Douglas airliner. Click there in your plane and then click on "Airplane Performance" and you'll get a PDF with the charts you need. Thanks, Luis. Great minds think alike! I was hoping these charts would provide some guidance as to various outside air temperatures at takeoff. It only provides one temperature (standard 15c/59f). Besides altitude variations (which it does provide), high air temperatures (such as the one I had yesterday 23c) increase the takeoff roll dramatically.Best,Pete in KORD
