Do Widescreen Monitors Work?

Hey all,I mentioned on our teamspeak that I was looking at buying a 22" widescreen monitor. I was warned that widescreen creates problems on panels in FS9, such as some buttons/guaes will not function.Is this true. I'd love to upgrade my monitor !!!jimdx00@yahoo.comThanks....Jim:-hmmm

Widescreen works just fine, they will not make buttons/gauges stop functioning. The only things one needs to know is that they do display stretched 2D panels in FS9 and eat more GPU power when in the higher resolution ranges. In short, they work just fine, are very nice, but check your GPU/PSU if they are indeed capable of running a wide screen monitor.

My laptop has a 16:9 widescreen format LCD screen, and it works OK for simming with FS9. I normally run FS9 in windowed mode on the laptop at the normal aspect ratio, and use the extra strip of screen width on the right side to put things like an undocked FMS, autopilot panel, etc.Honestly though, for desktop simming, I still prefer two normal aspect ratio screens in a 2-monitor config to a single widescreen.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

I have a 22" TFT (Samsung Syncmaster 225BW) that I use with FS9 and I love it! However, panels in 2d view may be a bit funny looking since they are all streched out. For me that is not a problem since I anyway always fly from VC with TrackIR. I also considered a 24" DELL but the price difference is quite big and I find the 22" gives the most bang for the buck.

Read Davis's specs above he is very happy with his 57" LCD so am I with my 37" Westinghouse and 27" Dell. Large displays are fantastic.Abe

I'm using a 23" Apple Cinema. Specs below. Running it at 1920x1200. I just love it.

I was thinking about the DELL 30" which has a max res. of 2600x1600(I think). The price was about $1500. I got the Westinghouse 37" for about half the price....$799, it has all the inputs you need, HDMI, PC, PIP, SVIDEO, DVI, YPbPr, and of course (drums please) F S X.Of course I am gloating!!Abe
