AFCAD Question

Imagine you are flying vfr and are 15 miles from a airport. You tune in to the tower and request full stop. ATC responds and instructs you to use rwy 21. You acknowledge. Now you are given a choice to select another runway. There are only 2 runways at this airport. But when you try to select rwy 30, all that you see on the screen is: 1-[--Back--]. There is no other rwy to choose from!If you open FS9 and go to create a flight window and choose Selected Location and see Runway/Starting Position-you find rwy's 21 and 30.But ATC does not offer rwy 30! What do I need to do in Afcad to correct this?I did create the new rwy 30 using afcad. Rwy 21 is default.Using FS 9.Thank you in advance

I'm guessing it needs to have an approach written for it. Do a search on posts by rfields and jvile01 and buried in there you will probably get a good answer. scott s..

You don't need an approach (not for VFR anyway), you need to activate both runways using the star technique.21 Fake... (start from a real runway and add 7.9 degrees, insert fake, + 7.9, insert fake, until you are within 7.9 degrees of another real runway, in this case the last)Fake30There's a bit more to it than that, try searching for any of the above names, star technique, crosswind, etc... Maybe someone should finally write a decent tutorial. The PAI Forum thread was deleted when that site changed to the new design.

Have you tried changing the wind to be favoarable to runwy 30? That should do the trick. Understand however, that then your only chice will be Rwy 30. R-

retirred:unless the AFCAD has a modification as mike states, FS ATC/tower will only allow aircraft to land on the rwy(s) that are appropriate for the current wind (FS, in general, wants the rwy closest to the wind direction that has ILS).--
