Hi Jim:I too have found the FinneyGround Crosshairs_Plus aircraft absolutely essential to scenery development with EZ-Scenery and Instant Scenery object placers. It also correctly matches the ground level elevation readout provided by Steve Greenwood's FST-Elevation utility for use in some sessions when that full FST utility feature set may not be required:http://www.home.earthlink.net/~smgreenwood/downloads/These 2 other Crosshair Metric and English measurement aircraft have also proven very helpful both in scenery planning and object placement:Scenery Design Aircraft Metric Versionhttp://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...misc&DLID=33058Scenery Design Planning Aircraft (English Version)http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...misc&DLID=33046However, to the extent that I have tested these in FSX, they may not be compatible.I am wondering if, given your apparent skills, you might consider developing alternative FSX compatible versions (or a hybrid) of these. It would be great to have the ability switch during an FS flight/scenery building session between different "models and liveries" with different (and even larger sized?) ruler scales to further assist the scenery developer with planning and placement.Just an idea... ;-) GaryGB

Hi Gary, Sean, everybody,I finished up my add-ons for the Crosshairs Plus and decided I'd better contact the original authors of the pkg to see if they had any objections prior to uploading the file to the library. Heard back from Gary Mills today, and after his input, I may make a few changes. Sorry this is taking so long! This is what I've come up with, the package adds this "gauge" on a minimal 2D panel, as well as another smaller .mdl that is graduated in feet rather than meters.http://www.cat-tamer.com/attach/ch_pnl-1.jpghttp://www.cat-tamer.com/attach/ch_pnl-2.jpgGary, so far I honestly haven't given a thought to FSX compatibility, I don't even have FSX installed (lack of hdd space and insufficient CPU/RAM). I had the demo installed for a while and tested out some of my other FS9 XML gauges, they all worked so I believe this one will as well, although I don't know if there will be any coordinates compatibility issues with FSX's "round world model".What kind of incompatability issues do you experience with the other scenery placement tools? As I recall, there were issues in FSX with models that didn't have a "material" applied (or was it "textures" applied?). I applied "material" to this model, but no textures. It would be easy enough to make up a simple texture and apply it however, if that was the only thing standing in the way of FSX compatibility. Would you mind testing this out in FSX? Check your PMs for a link. Thanks,Jim
