Scenery problem FS9

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hello,I purchased the FS genesis US terrain for Flight simulator 2004 , and i have this odd problem ...http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/2272/problamzr2.jpgAs you can see the parts closer to the cockpit appear very nice but the further parts look unshaped... Any idea what do i need to modify to have all my terrain look as sharp as it is near my aircraft ?Btw Im cruising at FL 350 in that picture. Thanks in advance.

hello Flightsim switches to lower resolutions with increasing distance from the user's airplane so you need to increase the radius displayedwhat you are seeing is the change from your FSgenesis mesh to the default lower res meshFSgenesis sells buffer mesh to help with this and also helps with tears and slivers of blue showing where your high resolution mesh meets the default meshTry these settings in your FS9.CFGdepending on the resolution of your mesh choose a TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL, IE for 78 mtr mesh = 19 for 38.2 mtr mesh = 20 for 19 mtr = 21Make sure extended terrain is checked in settings>display[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=92.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19//TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=20//TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=2TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=8.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4

I was wondering about the Max Vertex Level myself. Since I have various levels of terrain mesh from FS Genesis along with UT-USA and Europe, I would assume that I would have to manually enter those items for each level of mesh? If you have several Max Vertex Levels in the FS9 .cfg file, will that not cause some problems? Maybe I'm not fully understanding this, as I do have blurred scenery when doing external panning. I have tried different settings to correct this but I haven't found a resolution to it yet. Possibly your suggestion may correct the issue, but I want to make sure I do it correctly.

HelloIf you notice the Max_Vertex_levels for 20 and 21 are commented out in the example i gave and so will have no effect.I have some areas that need 20 or 21 but as most of my mesh is 76.4 i normally use 19

Ahhh, I see that now. I'm just wondering if there is a way to include additional Max Vertex Levels for the different sizes of terrain mesh. Maybe that would help in the loading of textures during a flight.

I changed the values to the one you suggested but it didn't change anything.

Try downloading and installing "Soft Horizons" by John Ci and then change the max_unlimited_vis setting in FS9.cfg from 96500 to 53000, go back to FL350 in the same area with RW Weather and I doubt you'll notice what you're seeing. ;) Regards, KendallDell 8400 3.2 GHZ H.T.3GB 533 DDR2X800XT 256MB/Catalyst driver - 7.1's6x AA/16x HQ A/FDiamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530'sDual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905CH Yoke/Pedals - Saitek Throttle
