>Ron & Jim,firstly thank you both. I got wierd things here>now>1. Tryed to open my FS9.CFG file a moment ago and this is what>i got(see attachment)>2. We have only one account registered to "TJ & VERLA">3. Re saving a default aircraft (look at attacment also)>4. Re #1. I also have a FS9.CFG.txt-notepad,that is a backup>to the FS9.CFG file.I can open that thank god.>5. Now that my FS9.CFG file is buggered, if I delete it and>start flightsim, will it create a new one, then I can delete>contents and copy file good file from the notepad into it. I>had Paul(forum member)"commputor programmer" set up my cfg>file as to my computer system and the results were excellent>and if it's the last thing I want to do is loose his>configurations he made for me.>6. If you guys want i can resend my file from the notepad. I>feel I got to fix this first the make the changes you both>suggest.I'll do nothing til I hear back. :-) I'm totally confused now Tim. Why are you trying to open Fs9.cfg with Adobe Reader? It should be opened with Notepad. As to the second attachment, concerning an A320 test flight, I have no idea what that is. I don't see how it has anything to do with this discussion. Follow Jim's advice about how to find the correct FS9.cfg file, then fix it (or better yet, let Flt Sim create a new one), then create a new default flight file as I outlinded in an earlier post.R-

"Re #1. I also have a FS9.CFG.txt-notepad,that is a backup to the FS9.CFG file.I can open that thank god"If that's the one you've been working with all this time that's exactly the reason you're still getting the FSSound.dll error because FS9.CFG.txt has absolutely no effect on anything - delete it, or otherwise ignore it, it serves no useful purpose.Your actual fs9.CFG is a text document, it just has a .CFG file extension is all. For that reason it won't open in Notepad when you double click it. To modify it you have to figure out a way to get it opened in Notepad.Like I said above, click "Start > Run" and paste this line into the "run" box and press "OK":notepad "%APPDATA%MicrosoftFS9fs9.CFG"That will open fs9.CFG in Notepad. Add the [OldModules] section and save it.Jim

Jim. I'm replying to you as I feel you desrve a answer:1.i took that duplicate module out. only hv the one now.2.i know i was editing the correct file.(FS9.CFG) After I edited it I would update the FS9.CFG notepad file so as the both read in dupicate the same.3.only one user account here4.when i boot up it takes me to the desktop5.we are logged on as "TJ & VERLA" When I get the FSSound.dll errorok Jim. went into start/run/ and i pasted what you wanted me to and hit ok. I looked throughally thru it and there is no old module file in it. Now Jim, I need to know where this file came from as mine was edited per my computer specs and I don't want to loose those settings.Let me know and i'll manually go through my edited copy for my computer and make the changes that the programmer set up for me please. Now Jim. Here's a horse of a different colour...........a week or two ago for some reason a new FS9.CFG file showed up in the same folder that reads somewhat different then the default one.I'll paste it.( I've deleted it a couple of time but it keeps showing up. in otherwards I for the past 2 weeks have 2 files that read different)Jim, Once again it's important to me to know where that file came from after you had me paste it. Heres the unknown file that keeps showing up: The fs9.CFG that opened in Notepad when you pasted that line in the run box is the one that FS9 uses when it starts. This I know because %APPDATA% is a DOS environment variable that returns the path of the application data folder currently in use regardless of whether you're logged on as "TJ & VERLA", "Homer Simpson", or "Captain Kirk". That's the fs9.CFG you should be editing, because it's the one that FS9.exe is reading. It should be located in:"C:Documents and SettingsTJ & VERLAApplication DataMicrosoftFS9"Is there a chance that you've been editing one in a folder other than that, like maybe"C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFS9"or"C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataMicrosoftFS9"I don't know what to tell you about any fs9.CFGs that "show up" in any folder except that FS9 occasionally makes a backup and names it fs9.CFG.txt. I think this happens whenever FS9 encounters an error or hangs, crashes, etc. I do know that there's absolutely no way to have 2 files named specifically "fs9.CFG" in the same folder. The only one that matters is the actual fs9.CFG itself, any others can be ignored.Open the .CFG in Notepad again by using the run box command I showed you, add the [OldModules] section and save it. Go flying :) .Jim

Jim. I've been editing the 2nd one eccept instead of "ALL USERS" I go into "USER" application datamicrosoftfs9"The file FS9.CFG is the file that I open to make and save changes. Then I bring the text "notepad" up to date.

Hello Jim:) Thats correct. I did exactly as Jim said in post 31148 and added the {old module} file to it. I rebooted , started flightsim, shut her down, restarted and sound error still comes up.

Jim. I just got a Thought. I have a aircraft saved , parked with the engines off,the batteries on,avionics on,(no sound).I'll start it and resave with it running. Maybe that's my problem.?

Jim. Nope. No difference. Still get sound error. What if I took that module out put it away and see what effect it has on FS9?

FSsound.dll has to do with guages on certain addon aircraft. If it is not there, those aircraft will not function properly. There is no harm done by simply clicking "yes" every time you start FS9. You have the option to click "no" if you are sure you will not want to fly any aircraft using FSsound.dll during that session.Best Regards, Donald T. :-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.
