Is the Active Camera worth the $15?

---------------------------------After creating the new spot view---------------------------------Thats where Im getting stuck! Everyone seems to be getting it right except me!! How do you go about actually setting the view? For example I used the numbers from your screenshot above but the Recorder camera sits directly *above* the plane looking down on it (from a point directly above the fuselage mid-point).http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/Thr...Up/C17Small.jpgI cant get the camera to "drop down" and then "tilt" to the left to look along the left wing - like what you have done to create that wingview :)I think im missing something important here, I think I utterly dont get how the views work or how the camera is oriented!:(

First, you need to make sure all three boxes are checked in the Spot View edit dialog, as in my example above. Second, although my numbers are fine for a specific aircraft, another may require a second set of numbers--you have to be willing to experiment. Also, you may need to pan around the spot view using the Recorder's pan keys in order to get it "just right".Last, you need to make sure the recorder spot view is engaged, and not the FS9 spot view. On my system "shift+v" is mapped to toggle between the spot views, although you might have mapped other keys.Is that a freeware aircraft? If so, let me know which one and where I can download, and I can set up a spot view and email you the saved view, from which you can study and make adjustments.Happy New Year,John

Hey Majhankee,To help with your active camera question. I am a happy user of the addon. When I fly my aircraft, I use it to pretend I'm a passenger onboard the very aircraft I'm flying. A split personality defect for which I continue to forget to take medication for.:( Anyway, I do beleive that dreamfleet has a free utility that does the same thing. Here is the link: http://atr.flight1.net/atr_downloads.asp. Its called the F1 view utility or something like that. I've not tried it because as stated earlier, I've long enjoyed active camera. Good luck.

I thought I would share this with everyone. Paste the first thirteen lines below my squigglies into notepad, then save it as "C-17.SPT"Next, use the load feature in the Recorder spot view dropdown to load it up. If recorder is configured correctly, you should see a view looking at the port wing of the C-17.I have the Flight1 View utility and it coexists gracefully with the recorder.dllBelow this snippet I've also pasted my recorder.ini file. There could be some odd setting there I've made that makes the view come up easily for me. You can always try replacing your recorder.ini with mine, in tandem with loading the spt file created with my example here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~[sPOTVIEWS]nViews=1View0Name=C-17View0X=-3.652View0Y=0.764View0Z=-8.208View0Pit=1.228View0Bnk=0.000View0Hdg=-74.989View0Zoom=64View0Pan=1View0RotH=1View0RotPB=1----(Recorder.ini below)[sETTINGS]RplyItvl=125DfltItvlIdx=1RplyEnabled=0JumpSize1=15JumpSize2=60JumpSize3=300BufferSize=1024RplyClear=0Pause=0TrafficOff=0ShowRec=0ShowPlay=0RecFlags=95PlayFlags=95SearchSpeed1=5SearchSpeed2=15SearchSpeed3=50Search1=0Search2=0Search3=0PlayAIMode=0MaxAIAcft=0SetSimRate=1SetSimRateSrch=0LimSimRate=0ContrAiPlay=1WindAiPlay=0NoRecDlg=0[WINDOW]Show=0[RECORD]DfltItvlIdx=0DfltAutostop=1DfltAutostopTime=5RecAI=0AIItvlFactor=10[VIEWSETTINGS]TowerStep1=0.030TowerStep2=0.305TowerStep3=0.305SpotStep=0.152PanStep=3.000MaxTwrDist=55560.000MaxAutozoom=32768.000MinAutozoom=16.000[TOWERVIEWS]nViews=1View0Name=Tower view 1View0Lat=37.61135000View0Lon=-122.37036667View0Alt=63.09View0Pit=3.218View0Bnk=0.000View0Hdg=9.778View0Zoom=255View0Pan=1View0AutoZoom=0.000000[sPOTVIEWS]nViews=1View0Name=Recorder Spot ViewView0X=-18.092View0Y=-0.148View0Z=-26.448View0Pit=-6.000View0Bnk=0.000View0Hdg=41.835View0Zoom=64View0Pan=1View0RotH=1View0RotPB=1View1Name=Spot view 2View1X=-4.775View1Y=1.066View1Z=-8.481View1Pit=6.251View1Bnk=0.000View1Hdg=29.381View1Zoom=64View1Pan=0View1RotH=1View1RotPB=0View2Name=Spot view 3View2X=10.615View2Y=0.508View2Z=7.504View2Pit=2.238View2Bnk=0.000View2Hdg=-125.257View2Zoom=64View2Pan=0View2RotH=1View2RotPB=0View3Name=Spot view 4View3X=5.242View3Y=3.910View3Z=-1.779View3Pit=35.238View3Bnk=0.000View3Hdg=-71.257View3Zoom=64View3Pan=0View3RotH=1View3RotPB=0View4Name=Spot view 5View4X=-9.424View4Y=2.930View4Z=-4.982View4Pit=15.367View4Bnk=0.000View4Hdg=62.139View4Zoom=64View4Pan=0View4RotH=1View4RotPB=0[VCVIEWS]nViews=0[KEYBOARD]Beginning=0Back3=0Back2=0Back1=0Forward1=0Forward2=0Forward3=0End=0LoopStart=111LoopEnd=0LoopToggle=46SpeedInc=0SpeedDec=0SpeedReset=0HeightCorrInc=4203HeightCorrDec=4205Record=0Play=0Replay=0PlayTraffic=0Stop=27StopHere=4123NewView=8278DelView=12374NextView=86PrevView=4182Autozoom=8282
