That's strange, what aircraft are you using. I've flown hundreds of approaches with the PMDG mostly and she doesn't need more than 25 degrees when done correctly.PS, you shouldn't be on the Autopilot when in the turn. Your turn should be hand flown.

I've read that in reality some pilots unfamiliar with landing there banked 45 degrees while pilots more familiar with it didn't need such a drastic angle.

Wow that's intense. I guess some pilots liked to take the turn late and hard to give themselves a longer straight bit to the runway.

If you need more than 25deg bank, you are turning too late. Also, as Flyhalf asked, what has the AP got to do with it? You CAN'T land on rwy 13 with it on!!

Hi, I should have made my question clearer i think, i am using the Fifty North 737 and the Posky 767 and when turning in these aircraft on autopilot they will turn to 25 degrees ok but hand flying the same turns i can't get them to turn the same, ie 25 degrees, Can i change anything in the Air file ? and yes i do know that i am either turning to early or to late to line up with runway 13 but i will have to Practice more!! Thanks for the help guys, Cheers.

hmm, my turns aren't usually the 47 degrees, they are more like 30....maybe I'm flying the IGS wrong heheHand fly it, much more fun!oh, I think the A/P is limited to 25 deg, or maybe it's 30, can't remember, some have multiple settings

Hi, Not to worry i'll sort it out, Before anyone says it, its not a 47 degree bank of the aircraft its a 47 degree turn , 88 to 135, i think you would upset the passengers!lol. Thanks again.

Ah I now see what you mean! Yes, I guess if you go more to the LEFT of the LOC then the turn becomes slightly smaller/easier. The user manual talks about this. Throw in a nice crosswind say 200/20 and you get a huge push as you go round the corner, so you have to stamp on that right rudder. Awsome fun. It's always different.
