Impossibly annoying stutters in FS2004

Hello,I've noticed these very annoying micro-stutters that happen about every second or so and they are getting so so annoying..Here is what I've tried :-Changing drivers for the video card-Unplugging all usb devices and Ethernet -Defraging my hard drive with O&O Defrag-Trying to ignore the stutters-Delete my old FS9.cfg-Setting Sound Acceleration to basic-Disabling sound from FS2004-Killing all useless processes-Applying various XP Tweaks-Stopping anti-virus NOD32For some strange reason the FPS never seems to move. It stays solidly at 30 FPS even with FRAPSI don't know what to do.. I'm starting to think its my motherboard/video card/ram/etc combination causing the problem.. I, like you, am anxiously awaiting an informative post in reply to this one that has the answer we seek. This reply is not it. This serves as a bump in case a MS guru happens by and looks at the first page of this forum and it catches his/her eye.I also suffer from these stutters. I am living with them. Heck, maybe someday I will begin to like them. I guess the alternative is to not fly at all and ... well ... let's not go there. FSX still runs like poo even on this system. It's just not fun for me. Here's what I've done. I turned down the graphics just slightly. The graphics are still good but the stutters are minimized. I just purchased a new machine at Christmas time, a Dell XPS 420 with a Q6600, 3GB of RAM and a 8600GTS 256 video card. When FS9 was first installed on Vista, it ran like a dream. I didn't notice any stutters at all. Then the stutters started about 3 weeks later. I tried everything from a fresh install to changing out my video drivers, nothing worked. Then I bought a 500GB drive and switched it over to XP. Fresh install of FS9 on a fresh install of XP - stutters.I have to think it must be one of two things: My video card or my motherboard. Dell uses a modified Intel mobo and I think next Christmas I will replace it with an ABIT. I may upgrade my video card before then.Good luck with your quest.dolph

I know you've mentioned killing useless processes, but make sure oodag.exe is closed (since you use O&O). Oodag.exe definitely causes micro stutters...-feng

Hi I expect you've already tried this but just in case....A while back I had the exact same problem .After a lot of expense/effort it turned out to be overheating which removing the side panel instantly cured,and I now leave it permanently open. regards Jim

CDAhmedEH I see your computer specs there - could you post your FS9.CFG file here and I'll take a look at it.Other have done it and I've made suggestions to them and it seems to have worked for them. CDA.......Which drive is your FS9 running on? If it is on your D drive you just don't have enough free space to adequately run such a large and complex program and it doesn't look as if your FS9 is on your C drive if so it's awful small!I certainly don't think it is NOD 32 which is the best program in my opinion for FS

Are you running FS9 on a separate partition? I did this with my new computer and had horrible stutters. Uninstalled everything and installed on my C drive. Now its fixed. No issues.Mark.

Wow. I have not thought of this. I wonder what could the difference be, I would think having FS9 on it's own drive would be the ultimate. I have always run FS9 on it's own drive and, of course, I have always suffered from stutters. Hmm.

I have 3 Hard drives C for the operating system E for FS9 alone and F for everything else. Cand E in RAID and FS9 running smooth as silk. You do need an enormous amount of free space for such smooth running ~50-60% free
