Best web-enabled flight plan mapper?

I currently use a variety of websites to do flight planning (flightaware.com, sim routes, etc), but none of them give me a decent map of the route I plan to take. I find that transitions to STARS don't always work out the way I intended and I'd like to see a map of the proposed flight plan BEFORE getting up into the skies.Has anyone come across a web-enabled flight planner that displays a nifty map of the route?

Unfortunately it appears as though you have to pay to be a member to use their flight planning software.

i don't know where you fly so my answer will come from my own experience -i've not seen USA high-altitude charts free on-line. true, it has been YEARs since i have looked. i have a now very old set that work fine 99% of the time (US H1-6). you can buy these charts at airports that have a pilot shop. i got mine from a map store in mesa, AZ, back in 1998. there are also on-line sources for the gov't charts (these are usually cheaper than jeppesen's).i have seen on-line sectionals (low altitude). these are a challenge to use for a route of any lenght as one must have a 4' monitor.IVAO canada has a good www with high-altitude charts (for CN obviously) -http://dev.ivao.ca/charts/same again for VATCAN (VATSIM) -http://bathursted.ccnb.nb.ca/vatcan/fir/mo...e/EN/index1.cfm(as for the on-line sectionals the CN high altitude charts are hard to view as the PDFs are of charts 4'+ long when in paper form.)USA SIDs, STARs and airport charts can be viewed for free (printing cost is up to what type of printer you own) -http://www.naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_tppthere are also VATSIMs chart links (find a surprising number of things if you feel like digging for a bit) -http://charts.vatsim.net/--

For planning in the US http://www.fltplan.com/ has both low and high altitude charts for planning. It's a real world flight planning site, but registration is free and works fine for simming. WOW. Just did a dry run using a bugmenot login and that site is chok full of details. My only complaint is that it's a bit cluttered, but I think it's usable. Thanks!
