Help needed with the Reverser effect.

Recommended Posts

Hi.I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to add their entries for the relevant aircraft listed below with this fantastic effect file.It really does add to the realism of the sim to have this blowing water on the runway when you kick in the reverse thrust. The problem is that I have had mixed results with this, more than likely because I have got a few things wrong on some of the aircraft. For example, I can't have this with the Captain Sim Legendary 707 as it has it's own dark smoke effect the same as the C130, and makes the reverser effect come on during the take off role too. And the Wilco/Feelthere CRJ200 does not make the effect show up in the sim at all.also the PSS B757 fleet won't display it either. The only ones I have been able to get this to work with are the ones below.Wilco CitationX, PSS B777, PMDG B747If anyone has got this fantastic effect to work with any of the planes listed above, could you please post the relevant aircraft and panel config entries in here please.I think we should perhaps set up a database of this feature so others can just add the relevant details to their aircraft cfgs and panel cfgs, kind of what they have done over at the shockwave forums. Thanks very much.I know it might be a pain for some to go through something so basic, but not everyone is that experienced, and it's always nice to be able to help someone. This is exactly what this community is all about after all.

Thank you very much SteveBetween this and the shockwave lights im considering it looks like I could be busy for a while :-) Especially if more people add thier configs Im hoping once i've edited the aircraft you have posted i will have a better idea as to what is what and maybe i will have a few of my own to offerMark

Hold up guys! you will have problems with complex aircraft that are already using the Smoke System section of the aircraft cfg....like the PMDG 747 and LDS 767.It is possible to trigger the spray from the Lights section of the cfg (which will help with aircraft that smoke like 707's, DC-8's etc)I'll upload a new version of the effect which not only fixes the nighttime problem but also with an alternative gauge to trigger it from the lights section.Give me a few days as I am really busy with real life chores over the next few days. :)

Thanks EdThere is no rush ,anything that saves me banging my head against a wall is worth waiting for:-) Its such a good effect it almost seems like you have been short changed by not having it.One quick question , is it at all possible to add to my Ai trafficMark

I know what you mean Steve I Landed at EGLL about 90mins ago the weather was lovely and wet:-) Typical I bet once i get the reverser effect installed we will have an early summer / drought here in England !!!!!!Ed Pity about the ai It would have been nice watching them coming in sideways at VHHX followed by reverse thrust effect !Looks like all my landings will have to be cat3 autoland in spot view:+ Mark

Hi again guy's.I'm not too sure exactly what ED is going to do with this, but I bet it will be good. One thing though ED, I am sure that you are well aware that a lot of people myself included are now running the Shockwave lights program, I just thought you might like to know this as you mentioned adding something to the lights section. Thanks again though, I hope we can get this to work as I do think it looks amazing. I have never landed so much in Spot view :(

Hi Gang.any more news on this at all, or is ED still busy with the real world commitments.I tried this effect on the F1 Super 80, but it gave me this effect on t/o as well as when using the reverse thrust, looked kind of funny.Thanks.PS ED if you read this, did you see my note above about the 3D lights were using.

Yes I'm still busy ...and my lady is giving me a hard time also because I am not giving her enough time!.I do not have the FI Super 80 but let me make something quite clear.A lot of the more sophisticated aircraft use the smoke system part of the aircraft cfg already. This means even if you erase the effect that is there.. there is still a gauge trying to activate/deactivate the effect. If this is the case adding my reverser spray effect to the smoke system section is not a good idea as the gauge that triggers the effect will conflict with the gauge that is already there. This is PMDG, LVLD and a host of others.I said the effect can be triggered from the lights section of the aircraft cfg but the same problems apply....you need a spare light effect (like recognition lights).Sophisticated aircraft will have used up all the lights section (max of 18 effects) ....and now the Shockwave lights are popular ...even less space!.So if you want all your vapour trails, reverserspray, takeoff spray, condensation, shockwave lights... forget PMDG/LVLD ...get yourself a lovely Aerosim Tristar ....plenty of effect space! :-hah

Hi All,and thanks for the info ED, point taken. But I have a new one for anyone.I'm trying to add the reverser effect to these two babies, and I am having a problem because I can't figure out where the engines are in the aircraft cfg.can some kind soul please post the locations for the Alphasim C5 and C141 please.then all I have to do is add the line of text after is for the effect to kick in when it's raining.I did try this[sMOKESYSTEM]smoke.0 = -4.15, -63.35, -1, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1 = 7.35, -41, 1, Opensky_revspraysmoke.2 = 7.35, 41, 1, Opensky_revspraysmoke.3 = -4.15, 63.35, -1, Opensky_revspraybut it keeps making the effect all under the aircraft, not where it should be beneath the wings where the engines are. Many thanks for your help.

Hello Steve,Sorry I can't help you, I'm afraid. On the other hand....:) I would like to try that spray effect on my PSS T7 - I guess I would need an Opensky aircraft in my fs9 Hangar first? In my T7 the engine info is in the aircraft.cfg, under 'GeneralEngineData'. Not sure if that is the same for you?Ken

Hi Ken.No need to have a POSKY a/c, just search the file library for the reverser effect and grab it.The readme is very good in that it's not complicated (Thanks for keeping it simple ED)anyway, heres the PSS T7 300ER, and the shockwave lights as well in case you have them and wanted to tweak them somewhat.make a back-up of the a/c and panel cfg's just in case you don't like my lighting, or if you don't have the Shockwave lights, then just skip the Lights bit.Aircraft CFG [lights] light.0 = 3, -32.20, 104.80, 4.00, fx_navgremlight.1 = 3, -32.20, -104.80, 4.00, fx_navredm light.2 = 2, -35.1, -104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe light.3 = 2, -35.1, 104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe light.4 = 3, -37.7, -104.80, 4.00, fx_shockwave_navwhi light.5 = 3, -37.7, 104.80, 4.00, fx_shockwave_navwhi light.6 = 1, 49.5, 0, 13.3, fx_shockwave_beacon_h light.7 = 1, 3.5, 0, -7.9, fx_shockwave_beacon_b light.8 = 5, 33.2, 12.7, -2.5, Fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon light.9 = 5, 33.2, -12.7, -2.5, Fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon light.10 = 6, 105.7, 0, -11, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double light.11 = 6, 105.7, 0, -12.5, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double light.12 = 5, 34.2, 12.7, -2.5, Fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon light.13 = 5, 34.2, -12.7, -2.5, Fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon light.14 = 3, -32.20, 104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe_3light.15 = 3, -32.20, -104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe_3 light.16 = 3, -32.20, 104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe_2light.17 = 3, -32.20, -104.80, 4.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe_2[smokesystem]smoke.0 = 5.90, -27.40, 77.13, fx_pss_fuel_jettsmoke.1 = 5.9, -27.4, -77.13, fx_pss_fuel_jettsmoke.2 = 5.90, -27.40, 77.13, Opensky_revspraysmoke.3 = 5.9, -27.4, -77.13, Opensky_revsprayPanel CFG[Window00]file=main.bmp size_mm=2047window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7visible=1ident=9000gauge00=PSS-B777!Server, 0,1100,1,1gauge01=PSS-B777!PFD, 0,869,508,546gauge02=PSS-B777!ND, 508, 869, 510,546gauge03=PSS-B777!EICAS, 1251, 869, 502,667gauge04=PSS-B777!EFIS, 498, 507, 380,362gauge05=pss_vars!pss_vars, 0,800,50,50gauge06=PSS-B777!Autopilot, 878,507,1170,363gauge07=PSS-B777!LeftBottom, 0,1415,1018,121gauge08=PSS-B777!Gear, 1753, 869, 295, 667gauge09=PSS-B777!Standby, 1018, 869, 233, 667gauge10=PSS-B777!Glareshield, 0, 507, 498, 362gauge11=PSS-B777!Post, 1376, 0, 481, 510gauge12=revspray!revspray, 0,0,10,10 // Reverser splashOnly use this bit if you have the Shockwave lights.[Vcockpit01]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=1024,1024visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$VCGauges1gauge00=PSS-B777!FMC, 0,0,323,512gauge01=PSS-B777!PFD_Floater, 325,-2,350,350gauge02=PSS-B777!ND_Floater, 675,-2,350,350gauge03=PSS-B777!CLOCK, 699,513,170,172gauge04=PSS-B777!MFD_Floater, 350,512,350,350gauge05=PSS-B777!STANDBY, 870,513,159,448gauge06=PSS-B777!EICAS_Floater, 0,512,350gauge07=PSS-B777!AP_ALT_vc, 325,430,100gauge08=PSS-B777!AP_SPD_vc, 325,350,100gauge09=PSS-B777!AP_HDG_vc, 325,378,100gauge10=PSS-B777!AP_VS_vc, 324,408,100gauge11=PSS-B777!compass_V, 325,459,100gauge12=PSS-B777!RadioAct_VC, 426,350,100gauge13=PSS-B777!RadioStby_VC, 425,378,100gauge14=PSS-B777!RudderTrim_VC, 527, 350 ,287gauge15=PSS-B777!TrimInd_VC, 701,686,89gauge16=PSS-B777!XPDR_VC, 426,405,100gauge17=shockwave_lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light
