Good resource for real world gate assignments?

Recommended Posts

I've got plates, charts related information about an airport... but what about gate assignments? I'd like to fly into major airports and simulate real (or close to it) gate assignments. Is there any decent web related resource out there that shows what airlines park at which gates?

Search using the airport name and ICAO, or a mix of the city name and the word airport.Wikipedia has many entries on airports and again using location you might be able to find an article. These articles give you several bits of information:Airlines/destinations served can link you to airline detail and in external references or links their website. From these you can often find descriptions of the gates they use or you can check flight arrival status and arrival gate perhaps by time if you do not know the flight number. The airport pages on Wikipedia also provide references and external links to web pages of the airports themselves. From these you can often find terminal diagrams (defining the gate numbers) and gate lists for various airlines. For example, about the fifth result searching for kmsp airport on Wikipedia will bring you to this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneapolis-S...ational_Airportgiving you a wealth of information. You'll see a list of terminals (concourses per terminal) and what airlines use them. Further down you'll see a reference to "MSP official website" which will take you here:http://www.mspairport.com/msp/default.aspxwhich has a maps link to here:http://www.mspairport.com/msp/maps_guides/default.aspxfrom which you can get maps of each concourse showing gate placement and airlines. There are many large airports that provide this information.Another source for many international airports are those VATSIM and IVAO sites that make charts including airport diagrams which may include expanded extracts of gate parking locations.Yet another source is right on your PC. If you have add-on scenery or add-on afcads, many will show you the gate locations with airline identifiers attached to each. You can see these by using AFCAD v2.21 available in the library here.I hope this helps you find the information you are seeking.
