Scenery.cfg problem after adding adon-scenery

Recommended Posts

Using Vista. After adding a new addon scenery, and going through the procedure to add it to FS9, I checked SCENERY.CFG to discover that the new entry has not been added in to the file. The new scenery works fine, but I'm trying to add an exclusion entry to get rid of some unwanted trees/bushes, but there is no entry for this new addon or any recent addons as well.Quite happy editing the file, but a manual entry into the file doesn't appear to work. Please help..:-hmmm

Did you install it to a specific folder or just to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Addon Scenery?

Rather than mess around with editing the scenery.cfg, I would suggest a trip to the library for a nifty little utility excbuilderv2.zipSimple to use, it will create a .bgl that you can drop in the scenery folder. If you search for excbuilder you will also see a nice tutorial (and an update for the tutorial) done by David Marshall.Highly recommended.

Thanks guys, discovered that running FS9 as administrator, not just with admin privs updated the .cfg in the right place. The "backup" one in the "C:Users'USER'AppDataRoamingMicrosoftFS9" was updating OK, but the FS9 directory one wasn't changing.Running FS9 as administrator seemed to cure it OK.
