Change of seasons

Hello everybody! I wonder if there is any way to correct the date MSFS 2004 changes seasons. By default it's April 17th (for Russia, at least) and if you fly over Moscow before this date you'll see it covered with snow. Which is rather funny having almost summer weather outdoors :)It should be a single line in some configuration file, I suppose... It's quite strange, btw, that these season textures doesn't depend on Jeppesen real-world data, the snow is sure to melt when it's 15 degrees centigrade.

The terrain season always changes around the 18th of the month in FS9 (1st in FSX). But there are 12 different season mappings, so you have control over which month makes the change (summer - fall and winter - hard winter tend to be the most obvious).3d objects can be designed with the ability to query the date from the sim, and that can be used by the object's code to pick a particular season texture to display. This capability to interact with sim variables seems to be going away in future versions of FS.It is possible to develop a scenery file which modifies the 12 season maps, but you are always limited by the fact that a single map is going to be used for the full 30/31 days. That and the resolution of seasons is limited in FS9 (better in FSX). This makes it hard in FS9 to show snow on peaks but green in the valley (unless you want perma-snow and ice on the mountain). I suppose in theory it is possible to create 365 or more different season bgl files, and have some batch file install the desired one before starting the sim. That would be more practical in FSX since it is easier to create a season bgl using the FSX resample tool.scott s..
