Hordes of AI aircraft flying in 'groups'! Any ideas?

I have project AI installed to give me a sense of realism. Well its nice to know you are not alone. But lately I seem to be getting around 10 aircraft on approach on 1 airport, 10 aircraft all flying within 500 metres of each other on an airway..... Is it because I just started up a flight? I mean it is a funny to watch sometimes!!!!!! Airline formation flying at its best? Airlines being friendly to each other by flying side by side???? Or they are trying to save money on fuel by flying in each other's wake (although a little bumpy for passengers)with the price crunch?

This always happens within the first 15mins or so when yuou start a flight or happens most of the time when you approach an airport. For example if you are approaching a busy airport with lots of AI then just like you there are bound to be loads of AI aircraft trying to lad as well. *You could try turning down your traffic % slider in settings if yopu think you have to much AI. *Circle a couple of times before landing to allow traffic to sort itself out. *Use AI seperation or ai smooth utilities to sepeate the traffic in approach (both available here in the library to download).

Thanks for the great advice.I use MS ATC normally, (it is funny trying to acknowledge clearances when you can't get a word in for the large amounts of traffic!) but seeing 7 aircraft on finals all within about 2000m or 8000ft of each other is......amazing! I thought it was when you started up too....I will look for AI smooth and separation.

"Start your flight and while sitting at the gate then START UP AI SMOOTH...Curious as what this tip does as opposed to first starting AI Smooth and then start FS9 flight? Does it have some reaction to the way the AI will behave at first - such as all bunching up?
