Tutorial on static Aircraft

Recommended Posts

Guest superbee15

G'day I am new to FS2004 and am slowly learning.I am trying to find a tutorial or guide on how to add a static/AI plane in an airport.I don't really need to be able to fly it as I am just using it for display. However if it needs to be otherwise then ok so be it.Any help greatly appreciated.CheersSB

Opa, I have no skill whatsoever in sim scenery. Can you direct me to a glossary or similar source where I can get definitions of terms such as AI aircraft, static aircraft, and other terms commonly used by folks on this forum? I'm going to try adding on some airport scenery to FS9 and, frankly, I'm bewildered by how that is done. Thanks, Gary

Patrick Finch has written a fine Tutorial on the subject of using AI aircraft to represent static aircraft. Here is the link: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...&DLID=64570 I have used the procedure a number of times and it works well. Hope this is helpful.

If you are quite new to FS2004 you may not have discovered the Traffic settings in the sim which are available. Go to Settings/Traffic and you will see a dialogue where you can turn Airline and/or General Aviation (GA) traffic on or off. There is also a slider which you can set to modify how much AI (Artificial Intelligence) aircraft traffic that will be active. See attached screenshot. Note: AI traffic will negatively impact your frame rates (how smooth the display is) so if you have a modest machine, do not expect to run the slider at 100% - try 50% and experiment. After you get comfortable with exploring the FS2004 setup, we can recommend some very easy to install replacement aircraft which will populate the skies and airports with "real world" aircraft instead of the Soar and Landmark stuff which comes with FS.Also take the time to do at least a few of the Lessons and get acquainted with the built in Help file. Much of what you need to know is clearly explained in these resources.Warning - FS can be (and often is) very addictive!!! :(
