Default A/C as ai question.............

Guest PARADISE

Hey guys......Is there a way to increase the use of particular AI Default aircraft? For example, can I get some Emerald Harbor Air Caravans to show as AI in addition to the other Caravans that already show? I'm using Ultimate Traffic, but I only see where I can check on/off for Caravans......not a specific model or airline. My idea is to add a few EHA Caravans and give them some flight plans, if possible. Thanks in advance for any replies.......John

No problem!FS2004 allows you to have as many Traffic files as you might desire - they must be uniquely named however.Any of the default aircraft can be used as well as any of the dedicated AI aircraft you may have.It is simply a matter of creating three txt files -airports_XXXX.txtaircraft_XXXX.txtflightplans_XXXX.txtThe X's represent what ever you might want to add to the name to make it unique. The aircraft_XXXX.txt file would have the list of which aircraft you want to use - it need NOT include all the aircraft you have. The airports_XXXX.txt file would include the coordinate data for the airports you want to use - again, you do NOT need the list of all potential airports. The flightplans_XXXX.txt file would contain the actual flightplans.I use Dave Westbury's fine AI Flight Creator program to actually write the flightplans but there are many other such programs available and each simmer has their favorite. After the plans are written, they are compiled - usually using the program called Traffic Tools by Lee Swordy. The resulting file would be named Traffic_XXXX.bgl if you did not replace the X's with other text.A good way to try to understand all this is to use the Traffic Tools program to de-compile an existing traffic file you have and study the three txt files which you will see.Hope this is helpful.

FYI, using Traffic Tools and Notepad I recently changed all the default aircraft in the default traffic file - traffic030528.bgl - to addon AI planes in my hangar. No more Soar Airlines for me! It took about 30-45 minutes to do the whole thing. It's really quite simple once you understand the file structure. Hope this helps!

I've been using regular A/C as AI in both FS9 and FSX...I made groups of constellations and fleets of TWA etc.......Needless to say they have a HIT on FPS....... But they are SO MUCH FUN !!!

Yup, fun until you get the go around 4 or 5 times. Then you shell out of FS9 and open aiSmooth. I think the program GATraffic can be fooled into making small textures for the big planes too. I'm planning to try it and see what it does. Dolph
