VC eyepoint problems

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,I spent a lot of time recently altering the default view in the VC of some of my add-on aircraft. What I do not understand is how it is possible for the aircraft to be modeled properly, yet I can not get the viewpoint right. For example, in a Cessna 172 I can see over the panel about 1.5 feet back from the spinner, and I can also see both wingtips looking out either side of the aircraft. But when trying to get this position in FS9, I can not have both, only one or the other. If I move up high enough to see the nose of the aircraft, I am above the window. If I move low enough to see the wingtips, I am too low on the panel. How is this so? The aircraft I am working with are the Flight 1 C172R and the Carenado 206 and 210.-Jeremy

Hi JeremyI fly Cessna 152's in training for my licence, i have found that if you use the zoom function and set the zoom to about .75 it should give a relistic view. This is the setting i use in most of my virtual cockpit setups. You say you have tried changing the position, but not if you have tried the zoom in/out function.Hope this is of some helpregards Andy

JeremyI am familiar with the inconvenience that you describe. To see any view over your nose you will have to raise your seat so you will not be able to see under the wing or to the wing tips. Carenado

That's what I'm working on now. I am still confused as to how it is possible for the views to be so far off, though. Using the Flight 1 172 as an example, it is weird how the virtual cockpit seems so precise, yet my eyepoint will not match my real-world experience. I guess it might be asking too much from a simulator. I have the same problem with the default 172 in FSX, and in fact, with just about all GA aircraft in both sims. The only aircraft I have thus far that is near perfect is the 150 and 152.-Jeremy
