Posky 777-200v2 released

Recommended Posts

To those of you who are not aware: Posky released the long awaited boeing 777-200ER/LR for FS9/X.Together with the Caravelle it made yesterday a very nice day. :)As usually it is a great looking well-animated model.I have quickly tweaked it and merged with PSS for some more professional flying. If anyone is interested I'm sharing some tweaks here.1. Wing viewsTo get wing views please paste the following lines into your panel.cfg.I mean the cfg of the panel you want to use (e.g.PSS).They should go to the end of the VIEWS section.VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 280VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_EYE=3.0, 0.5 -37.0VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 80VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_EYE=-2.0, 0.5 -37.0VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_ZOOM=1.0 VIEW_LEFT_UP_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 260VIEW_LEFT_UP_EYE=-0.5, 0.0 -19.0VIEW_LEFT_UP_ZOOM=0.75VIEW_RIGHT_UP_DIR=10.0, 0.0, 100VIEW_RIGHT_UP_EYE=1.7, 0.0 -19.0VIEW_RIGHT_UP_ZOOM=0.75VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_DIR=8.0, 0.0, 230VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_EYE=-0.3, 1.5 -6.0VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_DIR=8.0, 0.0, 130VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_EYE=1.3, 1.5 -6.0VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_ZOOM=1.0You can enjoy them with NumPad keys (NumLock ON) by default:5+7 = left wing5+9 = right wing5+4 = left wing and engine5+6 = right wing and engine5+1 = left engine5+3 = right engine2. To get the PSS (or any other) panel working do remember to follow Posky's advice from their ReadMe file. It's about adding appropriate lines and subfolders to the new panel.Everything is explained there, so I won't repeat that here.Just don't forget it!3. If you use Aerosoft's AES, here's the inteliscene file for the 772:[Descr]Type=PO77[Geom]Nosegear= 22.9Door1=-2.55, 21.9, 4.9, 5Door2=-2.85, 11.6, 4.9Door4=-2.7,-20.75, 5.15,-5If you don't know how to do it, just copy any other inteliscene file to your Posky 7772 folder. Then open it with notepad, delete everything, paste the above and save. That's it.4. As for the sounds, there are a few good freeware packs here at AVSIM but I would recommend the Turbine Sound Studios version:http://www.turbinesoundstudios.com/download.php?list.25. And finally the PSS panel merge.I am not sure whether it is legal to paste (or rather attach) the whole panel.cfg file. Is it?So, in case it is not, before I make sure on that I can share here instead some clear and easy-to-follow instructions on how to merge.a. Copy the PSSB777LR-GE.air file from your PSS-B772LR folder into your new Posky 777-200 folderb. Copy the whole Panel folder from PSSB77704 into your Posky folderc. Now do all the tweaks the Posky readme requiresd. Paste the wing views entries from my point 1 into your copied panel.cfge. Make a safe (backup) copy of your Posky air file (just in case, though you may always redownload it)f. Open the Posky aircraft.cfg file (with Notepad) and entirely remove the following sections (only!):-GeneralEngineData-fuel-keyboard_response-electrical-flight_tuning-TurbineEngineData-jet_engine-gear_warning_system-brakes-hydraulic_system-Flaps (all entries)-Radios-direction_indicators-attitude_indicators-turn_indicators-Reference Speeds-autopilot-stall_warningg. After removing them copy and paste their equivalents from the PSS aircraft.cfg (it's in the PSS-B772LR folder) and save.h. Also in the Aircraft.cfg find this line: sim=Boeing 777-200LR General Electric 90-110B1 (it may be different if you are tweaking another Posky 772 model, doesn't matter), replace it with: sim=PSSB777LR-GE and saveThat's all! :)Of course the merge will look and animate as Posky but it's flight characteristics will come from PSS. That is the best compromise in my opinion.I have made the above tweaking based on Posky's LR model (HC and DLA so far), but it may be used for the other -200 models as well.6. In case you get purple untextured elements on your Posky models(e.g. windshield frames or gear struts) transform the os773ERv2_Parts_T bmp from DXT3 into 32bit (with the freeware dxtbmpx programme)Have nice flights! If you find any error or problem above please report here.I may have mistyped, mistook or overlooked something in a hurry. In such case: sorry.Best regards,Rafal

Rafal, you read my mind! I was just starting a search on how to merge this new plane with the PSS panels. I want to direct you to this forum post at POSKY titled "3rd party panel + vc model": http://forum.projectopensky.com/index.php?showtopic=32930Is this to merge the PSS VC cockpit gauges with the new POSKY VC panel for the 777 v2? Is that possible to merge the gauges for the PSS VC into the POSKY VC? That would be to good to be true!

Also, I guess there is no way to use the POSKY FDE with the PSS panel then huh? Dang...I was hoping I could use it with the PSS gauges.

Eric,As for the PSS VC gauges, that can surely be done.Theoretically you can use any gauges you like in your VC.In Posky forum you can see previews of the VC with 3rd party gauges. Overland, as far as I remember. However it is not a five cliks job and requires a lot of work.I wouldn't do it.As for the FDE, no offence to anybody but Posky has always had FDE problems.Great look, poor performance - that's my view on Posky models.PSS in its latest version flies very well and I'm sure it is a beter option. What's more, it will ensure flawless use of the panel systems.Best regards,Rafal

I was able to do it in about 10 minutes. You can't put the "clickable" gauges in, but at least you can have the PFD, MFD, and both EICAS screens (as well as the SPD, ALT, HDG, and VS readouts)visible in the VC.

Guest Tom C.

Has anyone come up with t fix for the hovering nose gear?I saw it myself in FS and didn't think much about it, but seen it on many other screen shots and it is really noticeable espically as its raising the nose thus giving a completely flat profile rather than slightly nose down.Other than that, and the usual POSKY FDE, outstanding piece of work.

Guest ThrottleUp

I've been waiting for this release. These guys are the masters when it comes to the heavy-metal freeware. And they have totally raised the freeware bar (and giving some payware out there a run for their money) not just with this 777 but with their Embraer machines as well. And lets not forget they have chucked a stellar VC in these addons as well! Woot :)

It's a great model and all, and it's FDE isn't as bad as previous Posky planes, but it's still a posky plane meaning it's mainly eye candy. nothing is wrong with that, but to say they raised the freeware bar is kinda insulting to the tallented people who gave us highly complex freeware aircraft, people like David Maltby, Benoit Gaurant (sp?) Richard Probst, Samdim the guys and galls of Project Tupolev, SCS and not to forget AFG whom with their excelent Caravelle have earned a place at the hall of fame. and yes I like the new 777 (even though I'm no fan of the real aircraft at all) but it is in no way high quality freeware, it looks really nice and flies kinda OK thats it.just my 0.02$Sander

>I'd love to do this - can you tell us your panel.cfg entries?>>Thanks>>JonnyHere you go... do this at your own risk and please know in advance that I offer NO SUPPORT for this integration... You MUST own the PSS 777 in order to use these CFG entries!That said, just copy and paste the following into the VC sections of the PSS Panel CFG (make a backup first, in case you don't like this setup!)IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO REPLACE THE "{ and }" SYMBOLS ON EACH VC ENTRY WITH SQUARE BRACKETS!!!!!!//--------------------------------------------------------{Vcockpit01}file=$vc_01.bmp Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=1024,1024visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$vc_01gauge00=Boeing777-300!Beacon_Nav_Light_Switch, 861,466,163,102gauge01=Boeing777-300!Master_Caution, 883,909,117,112gauge02=Boeing777-300!Autostart, 862,376,80,91gauge03=Magnetic_Compass!Magnetic-Compass, 869,756,148,150gauge04=PSS-B777!ND_Floater, 464,28,369,387gauge05=PSS-B777!MFD_Floater, 465,519,372,381gauge06=PSS-B777!EICAS_Floater, 31,519,375,383gauge07=PSS-B777!PFD_Floater, 36,37,367,377gauge08=PSS-B777!TrimInd_VC, 899,14,81,352//--------------------------------------------------------{Vcockpit02}file=$vc_02.bmp Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=1024,1024visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$vc_02gauge00=Boeing777-300!Backup_Attitude, 441,848,174,174gauge01=Boeing777-300!Clock, 619,854,170,168gauge02=Boeing777-300!Autopilot, 332,528,689,78gauge03=Boeing777-300!Rudder_Trim_Ind, 845,611,179,75gauge04=fs9gps!gps_500, 386,-1,637,527gauge05=Boeing777-300!Comm 1, 2,494,202,84gauge06=Boeing777-300!Comm 2, 2,583,200,83gauge07=Boeing777-300!Transponder, 1,841,200,76gauge08=Boeing777-300!Nav 1, 3,670,200,82gauge09=PSS-B777!AP_ALT_vc, 753,542,87,20gauge10=PSS-B777!AP_HDG_vc, 542,544,64,19gauge11=PSS-B777!AP_SPD_vc, 669,543,63,18gauge12=PSS-B777!AP_VS_vc, 858,545,68,14gauge13=PSS-B777!RadioAct_VC, 25,512,68,19gauge14=PSS-B777!RadioAct_VC, 23, 602 ,68,19gauge15=PSS-B777!RadioStby_VC, 113,513,66,18gauge16=PSS-B777!RadioStby_VC, 110,602,66,18gauge17=PSS-B777!XPDR_VC, 62,849,77,25//--------------------------------------------------------{Vcockpit03}file=$vc_03.bmp Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=1024,1024visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$vc_03gauge00=Pky_glassdirt!Pky_glassdirt, 0,0,1024,1024
