NEED HELP WITH Reverser Spray effect 777V2

Recommended Posts

Hello I have searched this forum about adding the reverser spray effects, but they refer to FSX or ships. I'm using a Poskey 777v2 and it has a smoke section already. I've read and followed the read me file for this addon but I think my problem is with me editing the aircraft.cfg or panel cfg. See below. (opt1) I just added the txt to the smokesystem and it didn't work. (opt2)The second smokesystem, I removed the first two orignal entries and It still didn't work. (panel.cfg) Is how I added the guage 12 revspray to my panel cfg. Can anyone get me on track. Thanks Donopt1[smokesystem]smoke.0 = -15, 22, 32, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1 = -15, 22, -32, Opensky_revspraysmoke.0 = -18.030, -106.400, -70.083333, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1 = -18.030, -76.300, -40.916667, Opensky_revspraysmoke.2 = -18.030, -76.300, 40.916667, Opensky_revspraysmoke.3 = -18.030, -106.400, 70.083333, Opensky_revspray//smoke.2 = 5, -5, 55, Opensky_conden//smoke.3 = 5, -5, -55, Opensky_conden//smoke.4 = 5, -35, 75, Opensky_vortex//smoke.5 = 5, -35, -75, Opensky_vortexopt2[smokesystem]smoke.0 = -18.030, -106.400, -70.083333, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1 = -18.030, -76.300, -40.916667, Opensky_revspraysmoke.2 = -18.030, -76.300, 40.916667, Opensky_revspraysmoke.3 = -18.030, -106.400, 70.083333, Opensky_revspray//smoke.2 = 5, -5, 55, Opensky_conden//smoke.3 = 5, -5, -55, Opensky_conden//smoke.4 = 5, -35, 75, Opensky_vortex//smoke.5 = 5, -35, -75, Opensky_vortex[Window00]panel cfg.file=main.bmp size_mm=2047window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7visible=1ident=9000gauge00=PSS-B777!Server, 0,1100,1,1gauge01=PSS-B777!PFD, 0,869,508,546gauge02=PSS-B777!ND, 508, 869, 510,546gauge03=PSS-B777!EICAS, 1251, 869, 502,667gauge04=PSS-B777!EFIS, 498, 507, 380,362gauge05=pss_vars!pss_vars, 0,800,50,50gauge06=PSS-B777!Autopilot, 878,507,1170,363gauge07=PSS-B777!LeftBottom, 0,1415,1018,121gauge08=PSS-B777!Gear, 1753, 869, 295, 667gauge09=PSS-B777!Standby, 1018, 869, 233, 667gauge10=PSS-B777!Glareshield, 0, 507, 498, 362gauge11=PSS-B777!Post, 1376, 0, 481, 510gauge12=revspray!revspray, 0,0,10,10 // Reverser splash

You did not specifically say that you placed the spray effect in your effects folder. That of course must be done. This link will display a file associated with the spray effect in case you have not looked at it. There are very good instructions in the package also.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...=root&Go=SearchI added the reverser spray effect to my default 737-400 and the Smike syatem addition was made to the aircraft.cfg file - NOT the panel.cfg file.[sMOKESYSTEM]smoke.0=-2.50,0.25,-16.1, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1=-2.50,0.25, 16.1, Opensky_revspray The only thing which was added to the panel.cfg file was this line:gauge66=revspray!revspray, 0,0,10,10 // Reverser splashIt was added to the list of gauges under [Window00]Gauge 66 was the next available gauge number on my panel - yours will be different I am sure. This forum link might be useful also:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchHope this helps.

Hi David,What has me baffled are these line in the Readme =-"To set it up for other aircraft look for the [GeneralEngineData] section you will see the first section of the line Engine.0will be the same as the second section of smoke.0 The second section of Engine.0 will be the same as the last section of smoke.0Just leave the first section of smoke.o ....it will make no difference.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And in the Window00 section of you panel cfg this line (replacing the xx with the next number that follows the last gauge line in that section :gaugexx=revspray!revspray, 0,0,10,10 // Reverser splash"My (GeneralEngineData) Engine.0 is nothing like that given, should I enter the actual Engine.0 - which is = engine.0 = 32.75, -32.03, -7.41,?I've read this readme a dozen times but still don't know if I'm on Foot or Horseback :)Ken

David & KenYes I did add the file to my main effects folder. I think what I am missing and this may help you out to Ken, is in the aircraft.cfg under the [GeneralEngineData]section you take the engine 1 & engine 2 and place that data in your smokesection but move the last entry to the front as I have in my cfg. I havn't tested this yet because I'm at work now and I just got this info myself off another site. here is the link to where I got the info from and it explains it alittle better then the readme file. I to didn't understand that readme file. But I hope this helps.Donhttp://forum.projectopensky.com/index.php?...l=reverse+spray[GeneralEngineData]//0=Piston, 1=Jet, 2=None, 3=Helo-Turbine, 4=Rocket, 5=Turbopropengine_type = 1fuel_flow_scalar = 0.735min_throttle_limit = -0.32engine.0 = 10.0, -32.583, -10.500engine.1 = 10.0, 32.583, -10.500[smokesystem]smoke.0 = -10.500, 10.0, -32.583, Opensky_revspraysmoke.1 = -10.500, 10.0, -32.583, Opensky_revspray//smoke.2 = 5, -5, 55, Opensky_conden//smoke.3 = 5, -5, -55, Opensky_conden//smoke.4 = 5, -35, 75, Opensky_vortex//smoke.5 = 5, -35, -75, Opensky_vortex

It has been awhile since I added mine but if I remember correctly, the use of the General Engine data is simply to get the coordinates where the effect should appear.I agree that the instructions are not very clear about that.Hope that may help a bit.

Okay I finally go it to work, after getting the smoke cordinates straight I then had to figure out why I wasn't still getting the effects. It turned out to be the cab file that goes in the main gauge folder. I was extracting the file to the main gauge folder instead of putting the who zip file in their, and that fix'd it for me. Thanks a million everyone who helped me out.Don

Hi Don, thanks for your help. I've done as you suggest, not yet had time to try it out. I've thrown another 'lump of coal on the fire' by placing that cab file into my panel folder. Just to try out something David has suggested some time ago. If it doesn't work with the cab file I'll move it into the Fs9 gauge folder.Ken

KenIf your using the file called REVERSER SPRAY.ZIP by Edward Cox you need to place the file (revspray.cab)into your main FS9 gauge folder not your aircraft panel folder. The only thing you should being doing in your aircraft panel.cfg is adding this line to your Window00 section (gaugexx=revspray!revspray, 0,0,10,10 // Reverser splash) See the readme file for further instructions. Let me know how it comes out.Don

I only added the effect to my default b737-400.BUT - if you you planning to add that effect to OTHER aircraft, then I would put in the gauges folder (a common location) so that you do not need to add the cab to the panel folder of each aircraft - they will all use the one cab file in the default gauges folder. Hope that helps.

Well thank you gentlemen, a great informative topic.I have just one puzzle...this Reverser Spray effect, does it only appear on wet runways? I normally get a nice 'puff' of smoke on touchdown (even though I land the PSS T7 like butterfly on a flower :) ), but I don't think that has anything to do with spray?Ken

KenYes it only appears on wet runways. I only wish that someone could make that effect for the wheels rolling through the water on the runway, now that would be really nice!!Don

H'mmm, aquaplaning, think I'll give that a miss :) Did that in a 1937 Austin Seven - the car finished up on the grass verge facng the way I had just come from!! No personal injuries.I'll have to wait until it rains, then give it a try with the T7.ken
