AI traffic will not land at INNSBRUCK

Recommended Posts

Guest Andrew

Ive tried all the replacement files in the File library but to no effect. The problem is the AI planes which I added with TTOOLS just overfly the airport. Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do.?Or is this problem caused by the lack of a Full localizer/glideslope on the runway 26?Your faithfullyAndrew

Andrew,The problem has nothing to do with loc/gs on any runway, as AI behavior is independent of navaids. They only fly direct routes and respond to ATC vectors if filed as IFR.A few questions pop to mind:1) What aircraft are you adding/trying to have land?2) Will these aircraft land at other airports? If so, what are they, and what are the lengths of the active runways used? (Even though LOWI's is 6562' - should be enough for many planes)3) Have you opened the airport in AFCAD to verify that the runway's length matches/comes close to its length in the scenery?4) For that matter, are default/other AI able to land there?5) Have you tinkered with the .air or aircraft.cfg files either to better their performance when you fly them or for AI use? (Thinking drag scalar, thrust, weight, etc.)That's a start, anyway. I'm by no means an even average user when it comes to tinkering with flight dynamics, but maybe these questions will get some other folks thinking, too.Kevin

I have had the same problem. Open the AFCAD file and see what you have available for parking spaces. If you have insufficient spaces for the size of aircraft you are trying to land your AI will simply either overfly and disappear or land and disappear at the end of the runway. The only solution is to determine the type of AI aircraft youhave attempting to land. There are a few freeware programs in the library which will give you the AI schedule for a selected airport. You will more than likely find that you have isufficient spaces. You will have to change the types of parking spaces to match the size of those aircraft. Good Luck!

Innsbruck may be a special case. It's nestled in a valley, and the standard glideslopes are not clear of obstructions. Other airports with mountainous terrain have problems with getting AI to land. Try switching the wind direction to have the planes land from the other end of the runway. Also, the TTOOLS forum is really the place for AFCAD and AI Traffic questions.
