Any comments on Bill & Lynn Lyons new J3 Cub collection

Recommended Posts

Lest we forget, Bill started this whole thing by taping that picture to the panel. Va-va-voooom! If you don't have the Cub yet, that ought to pique your curiosity!

Is there a simple way to remove the photos from the virtual cockpit?I don't object to the photos themselves, I just feel that they detract from the quality of the virtual cockpit's panel.- I tried removing the photo_.bmp files from the texture folders but that left an ugly gray hole in the virtual panel.- I tried replacing the photos with a yellow-sticky containing a grocery list of: eggs, butter, milk and etc., but that just looked goofy.- I successfully removed the photos by converting each of the photos to a DXT3 extended bmp with Alpha channel, and then filling both the photo itself and its alpha channel with all black. I'm pleased with the results but there has gotta be a more properly architected solution.Fun aircraft, by the way. I've spent hours doing pattern work on a small grass strip. Kudos to the Lyons. Thanks your suggestions,Robert

As everyone has pointed out, if you see Bill Lyons' name attached to it, buy it immediately, you can't go wrong! Besides his other payware Classics (Waco Collection, Ryan STA, Tiger Moth, and Globe Swift) don't forget his freeware stuff (Cessna Bobcat50, Goodyear Defender, Fleet Cannuck80s, and his Hot Air Balloon, all available from the AVSIM library).Bear!http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e8013bf6eb393ab.jpg

Robert,Here is my suggestion..IMHO...Leave Bill and Lynn's creation intact as they presented it to you! Their creations are a bit 'personalized' for obvious reasons. To modify this visualization and then ##### and moan that your 'fixes' didn't work out is too bad!You say you don't object to their creation then fine, just fly it! Leave the picture alone and stuff your grocery list in your pocket for future reference.Don

Hi Uwe,I had the honour of betatesting Bill's Cup and I also fly the old J3 Cub and the FSD SuperCub.The FSD Supercub is a plane which enables you to sideslip and foreward slip. Bill's plane does to. The Super Cub is a high performance aircraft..yes! Bill's is slightly underpowered (but wait until you fly the Clipped Cub :) )And what's more besides the SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 it's the only plane that I could get in a spin ...http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Green.gifAbout the visuals..high quality inside and out, much much better then either the old J3 (obvious cuz of old designtechnology) and the Super 180. But both have girrrlz on board http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Nodding.gifSo no doubts, no hesitations, just grab this package, it's beautiful, it's top notch, it's humour, it's cutting edge and the only package besides Lago that has sound incorporated in the scenery..It will us make all happy http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Crowd%20Grin.gifHalelujaRob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif
