TP and default FS9/x default features

Recommended Posts

Hi ChristianI am really enjoying TP on FS9 - yesterday I was flying around the Seattle area, the weather was cold, damp , foggy, etc ( standard for Washington State?? :-) ) - the combination of TP and the downloaded real weather was positively spooky!! I tried to poke my way into the mountains but had to retreat. Looking at the Skyvector.com website showed me that many of the small airports in this area are closed for almost 6 months during winter. A real challenge to fly in compared to my usual flying in Australia. But my question is this - I know that TP basically "switches off" default Autogen - but I am just wondering what else it affects or does away with . For example - does it do away with default roads and rivers? - it appears to me that it does. Anything else to watch for? Default Lakes?? Yesterday, I was flying over a place where the default GPS indicated there should be a lake right under me - but nothing was evident out the window. Thanks Barry

Tileproxy brings its own set of lakes and rivers, however only features wider than 30 meters across are considered. For this you have to use water masking to get this feature. In FS9 you need the "water_mask=On" and "water_smoothing=On" setting in the INI file. The smoothing tries to eliminate the jagged edges of the water data that I got from NASA.Christian

Hi ChristianThanks for that - got both those on.What about roads? It looks like those are turned off as well? If so, it would be just as well as the default roads would undobtedly not be in the exact position of thos shown in the satellite images of FPBarry

Default roads are not rendered, but the car traffic are shown. Makes for a nice effect *if* the vector data for roads is accurate.
