Worked 'out of the box' but only Srvc Ex3

Recommended Posts

Guest spybaz

Just Registered here to say....Thanks for this it is awesome. Worked 'out of the box' with the pre-configured ProxyUser.ini from:http://www.edtruthan.com/tileproxy/ProxyUser.zip. Thanks for this too! I am struggling to get it to work with any of the other "Service Examples", besides the default [service Example 3], though.I tried lowering the simultaneous connections to '5' on our 'G' friend (Svc Ex2) but all I get is failures...On trying Svc Ex4 (no need to ask) I get same bunch of failures but not as frequently (Svc ex2 was total and constant failure). It eventually works but load times ar soo sloow and the images are just a pixlated mess.'source=Service Example 1' reacts like 'source=Service Example 2' - complete failure "- giving up!".So, seeming as I am new to all this, can anyone tell me what my options are for getting more exapmles of photo-terrain?I really appreciate this effort!thanks!

Hi SkybazI think that perhaps you are being a bit too ambitious - because you are attempting to download 30cm textures, rather than the standard FSx 1.1 metre textures. This is quite an ask - depending on the speed of your Internet connection and computer. Your INI file has been changed to do this. Also you are using early versions of the maps and attempting to keep more files on disk than standard. Also the web address for Google has changedTry thisIn the main TILEPROXY bodyChange the figures below to those within the brackets -max_lod=17 (15)preload_max_lod=17 (15)cache_bytes_limit=300000000 (100000000)cache_tiles_limit=300000 (100000)ie 17 to 1517 to 15300000000 to 100000000300000 to 100000Then in the Service provider section change also to the figures in brackets belowService 1map_version=138 (174)Service 2kh*.google.com (http://khm*.google.com)map_version=26 (30) ie 138 to 174kh* to khm*26 to 30I have my conn =10 and rate=1 - because I only have a 1 megabyte ADSL connection. If you have faster broadband than that , you can set to 20 and 2Barry

Thanks for the path update, Bazza. I am dowloading a whole load of meshes atm so I cannot try the new paths out yet. Regarding the:max_lod=17 (15)preload_max_lod=17 (15)cache_bytes_limit=300000000 (100000000)cache_tiles_limit=300000 (100000) My system can handle my settings just fine (looks amazing) - it was just the inability to use other providers (Service Examples) that was the problem. Service Example 3 has some nice satellite terrain but not all of Ireland is covered - i.e. - zooming in on their maps says that the zoom level is not supported so this shows up in FSX as crappy blocky terrain.I am curious to see what our "G" friends provide....Below is are a cuppla screenies (3840x1024 - 3x monitors) of Dublin airport (Ireland). ***IF THESE ARE TOO BIG TO BE POSTING PLEASE LET ME KNOW FOR FUTURE POSTS***1) Notice that the FSX runways are very close to the real thing. Also - notice how this particular satellite image was taken as a plane was coming into land... :)fsxdublinairportrunwayioj3.jpgBy spybaz2) Looks like they've built a brand spanking new stadium next to the old one :)fsxstadiumplacementwn8.jpgBy spybaz3) When there is no satellite imagery (at this level of zoom)...fsxnosatelliteterraintg3.jpgBy spybaz at 2008-08-13

My screen is 1600x1200, and I guess that's already on the big side. How am I supposed to view images that are more than twice as wide? If you want to show something, and want people to actually take a look at it, I'd suggest to temporarily switch FSX to window mode, resize the window so it fits onto one monitor, and then take the screenshot.Oh, and by the way, Service 3 doesn't even have QMID 18 and 19 (LOD 16 and 17, ie. < 1 m/px) images. Maybe that's why this one's working, and the others aren't.

"YES, THEY ARE! My screen is 1600x1200, and I guess that's already on the big side. How am I supposed to view images that are more than twice as wide?"Dunno bout you but I use the scrollbar to view pics that are bigger than my monitors. It was feature added in Win95 I think :0I thought people might be curious to see what that resolution looks like (like on most flight sim forums). Obviously it displeases you. Sorry for this. The only reason I asked if they were too big was because of bandwidth not the inability of some people to scroll....Back to the subject. I think the bottom line is that Ireland is poorly covered by any providers but Y is the best by far.I am extremely happy with this program!!Time to sight see somewhere else though :)Thanks!PS: Attitude begets attitude, that is why I am being a smart arse at the start of this message...flame over!
