Serious Advice On Pc Upgrade For Fsx From Fs9

Recommended Posts

Guest bradley27

Hi allRight i have decided im upgrading to FSX, FS9 has been fantastic but its time to move on to the better looking addons that are around. Now i am aware FSX is a huge frame chewer so i need some serious guidelines as to how i need to upgrade, I use WOAI traffic at 90% on FS9 with alot of scenery addons and user aircraft from PMDG, Overland, Project Airbus, Flight1, Captain Sim & CLS.I would like to be given the best specs so i can tell a PC manafacturer what i require to get a very smooth non stuttery FSX along with AI aircraft & VFR scenerys.I have a NVIDIA 9800GTX3GB RAMI most likely will use the GFX card again, and the rest i know needs upgrading anyway...but what to?????

"The best" specs are still not enough to run FSX with maxed-out settings, let alone with add-ons. One needs to massively overclock even the fastest parts on the market in order to achieve these results. Keeping that in mind, do you really want to pay the premium "the best" specs require? It's better to buy parts a notch below the top-end parts and then overclock them to their optimal stable limits. A Core i7 940 with 6GB DDR3 1600 (or faster) will do the trick nicely. Your current video card will suffice, unless you plan on running insanely-high resolution and AA (example: 2560x1600 w/16x AA). If you provide a budget for this build you'll get more specific answers to your question.
