Hello, Pete!Hmm, so you need an entire new system, or are there components you can keep? Also, is this rig being built for FS9 almost exclusively? If I was not interested in an i7 build I would probably do something along these lines:OS: XP 64 bit (Vista 64 bit if you could)Mobo: Asus P5Q ProProcessor: Intel C2D 8400/8500 (and OC the heck out of it) OR Intel Q6600 (and OC the heck out of it)Heatsink + Fan: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtremeVideocard: Evga 9800GTXRAM: 4GB of G.Skill PC8500Sound Card: SB X-FI Power Supply: Corsair 650TXHard Drive: Western Digital 500GB (or thereabouts depending on what prices are at)Case: Antec 900Media: Samsung 22X DVD-RW OS: $140 (XP-64 bit) Mobo: $115Processor: $190 (for Q6600) $165 (for E8400)Heatsink-Fan: $65Videocard: $150RAM: $55Sound Card: $60Hard Drive: $70Power Supply: $80Case: $110 (Newegg is running a combo for the C2D E8400 + Antec 900 for $30 off)Media: $29------------------------------Total: $1066.00 (including Mail-in rebates! Actual cost before these rebates IS higher!). *Not including Tax and shipping*That is not a bad price for everything total I put above. The biggest dent is going to be the OS/Case/Videocard.How much flexability do you have in your budget? I might be able to chage some things around to save you some extra money.

Ark:Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm very vested in FS9 (add-ons, scenery, etc.) and it serves my purposes just fine. Yes, I'm looking to spend about $1K.Would you favor Vista over XP for FS9? Thanks for your recommendations. They look very good!Pete in KORD
