Looking For Resources To Help People With Waterclass

Hi -When I bought FEX and I encountered its water designer, I was completely confused until I was able to study theFSX SDK and use tmfviewer to examine the waterclass bgl.I've seen a number of other people asking about it over at simforums and its difficult to help them if they dont have the SDK.I'm looking for online resources that I can point people towards. It would be great if Microsoft had a place where an intersted person could download a copy of tmfviewer.exe but Im not aware that they allow it.If you know of any online resources that would help then that would be great. I just found that Microsoft has put the SDK text online with their ESP thing but I dont see any tools associated with it. Its extremely possible that I am missing it.Thanks for reading.

Hi there,that's very thoughtful of you, good initiative.While the FSX Terrain SDK isn't available online the FS2004 version is: http://www.scenery.org/tutorials_fs2k4_SDK.htm . The format for land and water class hasn't changed so the FS2004 version of TMFViewer will read FSX land and water class files. Unfortunately, it won't read any of the FSX vector files (coastlines, roads, etc.) so it's a bit more difficult to orient yourself. One option is to also load the local add-on mesh file from the numbered folders in the main Scenery directory because its color scheme highlights ocean vs land.Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger -thank you very much. i hadn't thought about the 2004 SDK.FEX's water designer doesnt make much sense without the benefit of the SDK and tmfviewer.I'll point people to that link so they can download the 2004 SDK and hopefully they'll figure it out.Thanks again.BTW - I'm looking forward to FTX PNW.
