Quick Fmc Question 747

Recommended Posts

Guest Hingham2008

I may be missing something but my 747, after programming the FMC, only follows to the first waypoint and does not continue programmed route. All "appears" fine in the route/legs. What have I missed. Thanks.....Dave

Need more information and a screen shot of the legs page would be helpful. When you say the 744 is not following to the next waypoint, do you mean using one of the autopilot modes? If so a screen shot of the 2D cockpit would also be helpful.

I activate F/D before takeoff with LNAV. The aircraft follows the FMC loaded flight plan perfectly to the first waypoint but does not continue to cycle through to the next waypoint stored in the FMC etc...... I have no errors..discountinuity etc.... The same flightplans are followed perfectly in the PMDG 737 but not the 747.Dave

I have no idea how to read that pasted flight plan, by any chance is the "flight plan:" LLBG DEENA SUVAS UL53 KOR...etc??This is where a screen shot would make things quicker. Is the problem it flys to the first fix DEENA but not to SUVAS?What happens if you manually enter the flight plan (or at least the first couple of fixes)? This is a good test to try to rule out the imported flight plan.

That is the problem...exactly. Flys to DEENA and not to SUVAS. I did not enter the plan manually.....but build with Vroute.

Try my suggestion. Manually build the flight plan (or at least the first couple of segments past SUVAS) and see if it tracks the flight path. I am not familiar with Vroute and cannot offer any help with it, but I am pretty sure I can help with the FMC/CDU usage.

hi there,I would like to step in this discussion as I do have exactly the same problem. Does not matter whether I feed the FMC manually or take a prepared route. The queen accept WP1 straight, afterwards change heading towards WP2 and than return to WP1unless I manually put WP3 in front. The same Problem I had once (1 year ago before uninstalling this nice bird) and I solved it, but I cant remember how.Normally I do not use the VNAV facilities. Could that be the problem? Thanks in advance for kind attention and reply.regardsClaus-J

The VNAV selection should not affect LNAV performance. There is not a known bug in the FMS that would cause the aircraft return to last fix instead of proceeding to next fix. There have been a few reports of this behavior but I don't recall the reporter providing an update on the fix. I can't guess since I have not personally experienced this.Claus-J

The attachments appear to be taken while parked and before the flightplan is executed (there are no speeds/altitudes). Please provide the same shot of the ND and CDU before and after passing the first fix

I've just tried to recreate your problem...and I have! This happened because I hadn't set up the performance data in the PERF INIT page of the FMC(which you would explain why there are no speed/altitude predictions/constraints in your legs page). LNAV was engaged but it never followed the waypoints.Could setting up the performance data be the step you are missing?Robert T

hi folks, thats me again now in 'inflight' status.I started with PMDG 747 cold and dark at KPAE, departing runwy 16R Programmed WP's are BF SZ SEABF passed (as you can see from the screen) heading towards SZ (on course) next WP showing SEA.AP on LNAV speed V/S engagednow I say: you have controllregardsCJK

From your FMC I can see that there are no altitude or speed predictions located next to each waypoint. This shows that either you have not executed your flightplan (which I can see you have because of the magenta line) or that you have not set up your performance data in the PERF INIT page...just like I said in my last post. You need to enter ZFW, Reserves, Cost Index and CRZ altitude for the FMC to calculate at which speed and altitude it will cross each waypoint. Although you are not using VNAV, it looks as though you still need this performance data for LNAV to work correctly.Robert T

That doesn't look like the flight plan is Activated. I don't see any speed or Alt constraints.Rob
