Mcp Hardware Recommendation?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,There seem to be two or three choices for an MCP hardwre unit. Opencockpit, GoFlight, VR Insights all seem to have one. Does anyone have experience with them to know which would work best with the PMDG 747? Ideally, the best choice would not require a PhD in interface programming to get it to work. And even more points if it works with other aircraft like the MD-11 or LevelD's 737.Thanks!Derek

personally I would go the opencockpits route, although it can work with PMDG stuff it doesnt work fully due to PMDG's lack of support for hardware, something that will hopefully change in the furture with their new products. However the reason that I suggest Opencockpits, is that it works great with Leveld, works great with PM, works great with default aircraft, and is far more programmaable to work with any aircraft, rather than it just being stuck to working with the aircraft it models, What i mean is that the OC MCP is a 737, yet it can be programmed to meet all the functions of a 767 or 747, where as some of the others are a bit more limited in what you can get them to do. It also gives you the chance as you develop your interest in hardware to easily add more buttons, swithches, moudules etc, and programm them to do exactly as you wish. The others are a bit more limited in that they do just one thing. The opencockpits method is far more user congigurable, and far easier to develop further. In my opionion it is the way forward for FS, and the growth of the hobby and future hardware.RegardsJames
