Megascenery Earth Glitch

Recommended Posts

Very bad support from Megascenery! Their "contact us" form is bugged, they don't answer to emails and their forum is desert.(except Paavo who is not a part of the team but helps very seriously. Thanks mate! :--) )Here is a "nice" wall at Duchesne, Utah (U69).I've tried fixing it with FSX KML to not avail. It's tile UTAH016.Long live the revolution !!! :(

Does their scenery come with mesh? That looks like a mesh error to me. The stream is obviously hard-coded for a specific altitude; maybe to fit in with some other, coarser mesh, or maybe it's just a math error. Looks an awful lot like a problem I had recently when I specified a terrain element in metres when it was supposed to be feet.

No I don't believe it's a mesh issue.I've built a scenery.cfg file without any added mesh but just UTAH016.It rather looks like water poly's are at the wrong elevation.

Hi David, like Bill says this looks like an incorrect water poly elevation. Since Megascenery doesn't include water polys, as far as I know, this could very well be either the default water files or an add-on, like Ultimate Terrain X. Easy test is to temporarily deactivate the Megascenery Earth entries in your scenery library; if the problem is gone it's an issue with MSE and, if not, it's an issue with default or an add-on. If you're running UT-X USA try also to deactivate the "UT Usa Water" entry.Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger,As I said I've created a scenery.cfg with the default values + only UTAH016 to check if this was an incompatibility with another addon. It's clear that the issue comes from the MSE files.Best regards,

Hi David, sorry, should have read more closely and done some research myself first.I only have some of the Washington tiles but it turns out that MSE does include elevation adjustments for some of the water bodies. They are the files in the MSE scenery folders starting with "cvx". Their naming convention is based on the FS9 grid system, so it's a bit tricky to predict the exact file names but the river valley areas east of Duchesne are 003001230230232003001230230233003001230230322003001230230323003001230230332003001230230333003001230231222003001230231223003001230232010003001230232011003001230232100003001230232101003001230232110003001230232111003001230233000003001230233001Cheers, Holger

David, vieux pote, that looks fascinating, thanks for pointing it out. I have wondered for years how to reproduce the Great Wall of China, and the easy solution is to draw it as a narrow river and raise it a few meters above the ground, then plaster it with brown water class! Couldn't be simpler - those Megascenery guys are genii (geniuses?)!Seriously, though, to get rid of the wall of water, just draw a terrain exclusion over it, and then the photo river will display at the level of the altitude mesh.Best regards.Luis

Hi,We have identified the same problem that David seeing here. There is indeed a problem and we'll be releasing a patch to correct it. The patch will also correct problems that some users are experiencing with runways disappearing below the scenery.Yes, we do read the forums but cannot reply to all. When there are problems we do try to address the issue.
