Scenery.cfg Question

Recommended Posts

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone.....I have a quick question on the FS9 scenery.cfg file.Simply, what is the optimal order in which Mesh, Landclass, Add-On (AFCAD's) and individual airport sceneries should be layered? I have assumed that mesh would sit below landclass but I'm not sure about the others or does it even matter? Thanks for any tips on scenery.cfg management.Best to all,Robin

Yes, mesh, landclass and then the scenery itself (photoscenery first and airport later if you happen to use both). There is no need to put AFCADs into separate folders. I always keep them in my airports Scenery subfolders (but only one at a time!).An example from the scenery config:[Area.100]Title=Alps meshLocal=Addon Scenery\Alps meshActive=TRUERemote=REQUIRED=FALSELayer=100[Area.101]Title=Milan landclassLocal=Addon Scenery\Milan landclassActive=TRUERemote=REQUIRED=FALSELayer=101[Area.102]Title=ISD Milan MalpensaLocal=Addon Scenery\ISD Milan MalpensaActive=TRUERemote=REQUIRED=FALSELayer=102However, I usually keep all mesh files in the collective Scenery\World\Scenery folder, together with AI traffic bgls. Also remember that separate landclass folders should have only the Scenery subfolder. There should not be no empty Texture folder.Such folder will generate increased memory use leading to OOMs. A different case is photoscenery, there are texture files. That is my experience.Someone else may have different.Best regards,Rafal
