GMAX DC-6 and DC-6B Released

Recommended Posts

Hi all,Now that repaints are starting to be released here at AVSIM (USAF and USN C-118/R6D's), I guess I should get around to announcing that the new GMAX DC-6 and DC-6B by Greg Pepper and I have been released at my Cal Classic site. These feature the typical GMAX things like rolling wheels, reflections, night lighting, feathering props, wheelwells, etc., and also feature wonderful bare metal texturing by Greg Pepper. The only thing we didn't include was opening doors, since I think that an open door without airstairs (not possible in GMAX AFAIK) is kind of dangerous!! :)There are two major types - the DC-6, built in 1946 - 1951:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6aalframe.jpgAnd the later stretched DC-6B, built from 1951 - 1958:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6bualframe.jpgThanks to Manolito for use of the images! The DC-6B comes in 3 flavors - United (Mainliner San Diego), painted by myself:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6bual.jpgAmerican (Flagship San Francisco), also painted by myself:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6baal.jpgand Western (with the big prop spinners), painted by Greg Pepper:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6bwal.jpgThe DC-6's come in two flavors that I have painted, American (Flagship Oakland) here on final approach into LAX:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6aal.jpgand United (Mainliner California), leaving Honolulu for the mainland:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6ual.jpgThere is also a paint kit available with layered PSD files (usable in both PSP and Photoshop), but there are no instructions included - you need to know how to paint. Garry Smith has some nice tutorials for that: http://www.gjsmith.net/tutorials.htmEnjoy,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thanks for the kind words, guys!A few things I forgot - these (as did the Convairs) come with true FS2002 flight dynamics by FSAviator. While not as easy to fly as the Convairs (they are bigger, heavier planes), they still perform admirably on autopilot and when hand flying.Another thing I forgot to mention is that with the true FS2002 flight dynamics they need a panel with true FS2002 gauges, and this is filled by my new DC-6 v6 panel, now with VC gauges. If you downloaded the earlier version of the v6 panel, you can download a panel update from my site. Or, just download the United DC-6B, which is a plane/panel/sound package. Finally, I forgot to mention that there is a VC included, which many people enjoy:http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/dc6bvc.jpgTake care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
