Wilco or Eaglesoft Citation

Hi Ron,Ver 1.0 may be six years old but I've only had it for about a year. I'd very much like to acquire ver 2.0 but I can't get past the feeling my ver 1.0 purchase was wasted money. Many owners of ver 1.0 had assumed, wrongly it seems, ver 2.0 would be an upgrade and thus discounted. Too bad, but I realize you and your crew put in a lot of hours to make it better, and are entitled to compensation.Jack
Me too. I was a little disappointed with v1 (and boy does it take a year for those engines to spool up on the runway) but accept that it is old by todays standards. I would love to have v2, but not giving even a simbolic discount to previous owners is not right.

Even cars don't hold much trade in value after many years of hard use... It would be a different matter were v2.0 simply an "update" rather than a completely new model, new textures, new flight dynamics and new gauge/panel system...

The entire panel was completely rewritten from the ground up, including the following:
  • Updated and accurate dual bus electrical system.
  • Updated and accurate panel lighting system.
  • Updated panel artwork, including all gauges.
  • All CRT displays converted to GDI+.

The flight dynamics were completely reworked to provide an extremely accurate representation of the real deal.The 3D model was completely redesigned to support a new VC lighting system that's 100% representative of the real deal.The textures were also redone from the ground up to match the new 3D model.It is not, by any stretch of the imagination the same aircraft as the v1.

Yes. There's the Citation X V1 and the Citation X V2.

Mark, the Eaglesoft Citation X V1.0 was released early January 2004 which makes it now six years old and of course is not the latest technology.Three years ago we decided to completely remodel from scratch, remap, revise, add new features, and release as a totally new Citation X Extreme V2.0.The product description is on our website and also in our support forums if interested in knowing more about the in depth realism contained in our Citation X Extreme V2.0.Here is an excerpt from our Citation X Extreme V2.0 Webpage...Cessna Citation X Extreme V2.0 is built for the "Advanced" Flight Simulator Enthusiast who wishes to own a "More Realistic Citation X with Advanced Operation and Features Set" regardless of costs. Cessna Citation X Extreme V2.0 is not intended to be an "Update" or "Upgrade" to our present Cessna Citation X V1.0 Flight Simulator 2004/FSX model but rather a new product at its own pricepoint.As already mentioned there is no trade in value in FS products but we can say that anyone who paid $27.95 six years ago has certainly gotten his moneys worth. :( Hope this helps eliminate confusion.

Guys I also have both versions, and lemme tell you... the difference between them is night and day.V2.0 is soooo much further down the road :)

Thanks very much gentlemen. Oh, almost forgot...while comparing, check the selectable level of night lit panel text in our CX Extreme 2.0.Full bright to full dim and lovely anytime the sun is down just like the real thing :(

If you want to run on FSX then its important to note that wilco is the only choice right now, I don't own the Citation X, but had been consideringbuying it for some FSEconomy use.

I bought the Wilco Citation X in a sale, and to be fair I think it is quite nice, especially since I think I paid about ten quid for it. Since it is incredibly fast, I use it as my 'emergency get the job done plane' in Air Hauler!It's a bonus that it runs in both FS9 and FSX, but it doesn't run flawlessly in FSX for me, specifically, it crashes when you try to load an FS flight plan into the FMC in FSX, whereas it has no similar issue in FS9 for me. That means I have to manually put waypoints into the FMC when driving the FSX version, which admittedly is not a really big problem, but it is nevertheless indicative that not everything ported over faultlessly from FS9 to FSX when they created it.I don't have the Eaglesoft one, but a friend of mine does have it, and I have messed about with it a bit on their computer (albeit briefly). That was enough to convince me that the Eaglesoft one is undeniably the prettier one by far, and it is a better model too in my opinion, with the Wilco one looking a bit sparse in comparison (certainly from a texturing point of view). That said, personally I think the Wilco one has a better cockpit, even though I admit that is based on limited experience with the Eaglesoft version.If I had to choose, and was staying in FS9, I think I'd get the Eaglesoft one, simply because it looks a bit more like the real thing, and you are going to want to check out those external views up at 50 thousand feet at Mach 0.9 for sure. The Citation X has a very distinctive shape, and over and above everything else, when there is little to choose on functionality, I think getting the looks correct is paramount.Al

Isn't FSEconomy akin to the reality television of Flight Simulator? Where instead of flying and having fun, you get slapped down for not following the rules. The flying apprentice...ha! I'm not flaming you, I would just have nightmares seeing Donald Trump outside my cockpit windows saying if you don't land this thing in the next five minutes...you're fired!Mark
