Recommended Posts

Hi, when descending with the 747 using the autopilot and manually adjusting vertical speed, you see a green descent arc on the ND. You know exactly where you

No "green banana" in the MD11, because the real aircraft does not have this feature.Neither is there an indication on the PFD that you have passed through the transition altitude.

Hi,I might be wrong here.But.When you are about to start your descent right after the T/D on the ND you should see a vertical white line with a magenta/pink diamond that goes up and down as you descend. Now say your should cross your next point at 15,000.if the diamond is right int he middle you will be crossing your next waypoint right at 15,000.Have a look at the tutorial on page 27. (picture in the middle and #4).I tried using that diamond as a reference and so far it worked :(Mark(VII)

Follow ATC instructions when able. Use the FMS to do the work for you; for example, if ATC clears you to FL230 then use SPD & V/S for the descent but if they ask you to be below FL230 at a fix then you can use the VERT REV feature to program the descent. The MD11 FMS is very good at vertical profiles.
