Do you have a motherboard with a VIA chipset? The Soundblaster Live soundcards often have crackling problems in combination with VIA-chipsets due to a design flaw in the card. If sofar you've had no problems you were lucky. In many cases, the right combination of drivers can suppress these problems, but if you change one of them, the problems may appear. If you're using sound drivers from Creative, you could try uninstalling them and use the default Windows XP drivers. Sofar, they work best in my situation.Hope this'll help.Allard

There may be specific audio drivers from the company that makes your motherboard. I used to have the same situation... until I downloaded drivers from the manufacturers web site. I think that should do the trick for you.Or have you done this already?

Hi Allard,While I promise I'm not going to run around the general forums soliciting entries into the FS Tips and Tricks forum, this particular problem you answered is a long standing one for FS users. Perhaps you can provide your excellent solution to the Tips and Tricks forum at the top of this one to help other VIA+SB Live users of this problem?Take care,Elrond ---Not enough bandwidth to display this signature! Don't reformat hard drive? (y/N)
