Hi.They are integrated in the Acceleration. You can not install the SPs without Installing FSX first, Activate it, then install Acceleration with the SPs, another one of the wise decisions that MS has made. You better not be having to Activate over the phone, someone had told me that it guides you to a Talk / Porno number? TV

Hi, Jim.You need to refrain yourself from making comments like that, unless you are the one that posted the information.I was able to talk to the person that gave me the info, and I verified it myself. You need to apologize. Here is the number that was give to him by the MS Tech support. Try it yourself.1 800 436 9400. TV

Two things.First, if you need to activate by phone, the number to call is provided by the activation wizard.Second, I'll bet dollars to donuts that the MS Tech Support person read off the number incorrectly, or the person in question wrote the number down incorrectly, or he/she did not hear it correctly. Whatever the case, someone made a mistake....jim

Yes, you. There seems to be a group around here that will not accept facts. The Homer Simpson's mentality, I don't need no stinking facts, Ini, Mini, Miny, Moe. I wish us all luck, everything is good as long as I can do what I want when I want. TV

Hi Jim.Yes, you.
Apparently, my mistake was to try to reply with some common sense. I guess what they say is true. Common sense isn't very common.

Having a bad day?I have no doubt that the number you quoted above is indeed what you say it is.However, I find it very hard to believe that an MS Tech Support person would intentionally give out such a number. As I said, someone, either the tech or your friend, made a mistake. If not, I'm sure that everyone else that had been give this erroneous number would be plastering it all over the FS forums.Have a nice day!...jim

Hi Jim, and everyone.

Have a nice day!...jim
Thank you for your "..nice day" wish. My day is fine, so far. I'll be going up again in a few minutes and unlike in many things in life, in real flying there is not much room for error, and maybe some of you will get your wish? I've been "lucky" for over 30 years in Real flying and close to 40 in Sim. Navigation / flying, so I hope to be "lucky" a few more.I wish I knew what the motivating factor in some people is, that they want to argue the facts, even if they are not in a position to do so?Facts:FSX / Gold is basically a Demo, as you purchase it from the store, about 30 min. of use at the time. Not disclosed.FSX / Gold does not mention the fact that you Have to Activate it, any where on the box.FSX / Gold can Not be activated over the Phone alone, you have to install first, and be using your computer when you make that call. I am sure many of you are smarter than I am and can give me a reason why? Other than it serves MS's objective and they don't give a carp about their customers? There are still many computers that are not connected to the Inet, and will never be. I have some myself, and if you value your data / privacy you should All do the same, especially if you use any of the MS browsers. I spent over an hour trying to get mine activated by phone, a few months back. I understand it's a lot worse now. Then you have to install Accelerator, another 1-2 hrs? Why? Because they think everybody has the same mentality as they do, get as much as you can for as little as you can, when you can. Or is it only because of their past history? They think everybody is the same?FSX / Gold should Not have been released in the state that it was released, unless it is intended to be a Clearvoyant simulator, see pic below. Near KLAX.This Has to Stop. They made a mess out this Industry and trampled on the user's and customer's rights. TV

Hi Lmaire,I installed FSX Gold Edition onto my new computer just recently. To answer your question, no, you will not need to install SP1 or SP2 because they are installed automatically when you install Acceleration (which was included in the Gold Edition). Just install the FSX disc's, 1 & 2, it will ask you if you want to activate, do so via the internet you wont be calling anybody. Restart your computer so the Registry is updated. Now install the Acceleration disc, restart again and defrag. One thing, make sure you also install the SDK's (SP1 and Acceleration), you will need some of those features later. Here is a guide to follow. Good luck.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...=29041&PN=1Codeseven

Hi, Lmaire.Technically, yes.Practically you have to install FSX / DVD 1,2, Activate, run FS, Restart. Has it's own Setup.Install DVD 3, has it's own Setup, with the SDK, this will put SP1 on it, Acceleration and SP2 which is embedded in it. Transparent to you. All this is under one Set up, you cannot install just SP1, SP2 on top of FSX, by themselves, you Must install the Acceleration if you want SP1 and or 2 from the Gold DVDs. Activate again. Codeseven missed the " Activate again" after the Acceleration install. TV
