It's fun to check real approaches on authentic charts (in order to get altitude restrictions on final approach, for instance) and then fly them with FS9 ATC (clearances for just about all the real approaches are in there). For instance, RWY 31 Expressway Visual at LaGuardia. You begin on the ILS for Rwy 4, but then turn off to the right, follow the Long Island Expressway visually, turn left using Shea Stadium as your visual reference, and make a pretty sharp left to land. Not easy to get it right the first few times. In the AVSIM library, you can find various options for re-opening Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong. The Runway 13 approach is a classic. Again, real life charts help you understand what's going on.Innsbruck, Funchal on the Portuguese Island of Madeira, Santos Dumont in Rio de Janeiro, coming in over the bridge and the navy ships at anchor with Sugarloaf Mountain looming ahead of you. San Diego RWY 27, flying visually down the glideslope and between the downtown buildings. London City with skyscrapers, high buildings, and a glideslope that's twice as steep as usual. Bolzano in the Italian Alps--one way in, not much of a way out at all. Gibraltar in either direction observing restrictions on overflying Spanish territory. Aspen, Colorado! And on and on and on. The most challenging approach is anywhere on a windy day with limited visibility...Bill

Exactly!I would pick Funchal 05 on a windy day (basically everyday!!) but I'm sure there are more... Oh, Innsbruck 08 is amusing too... :(

The LOC to runway 27 at San Diego when the visibility is less than 3 miles, or the ILS 31C circle to land 22L at Chicago Midway with severe gusts; which seems to happen all to often in Chicago.
