Is the 6-pin + 2-pin pigtail ok in my 280GTX?

Recommended Posts

I have a decent PSS, a PC Power n Cooling 750W with the 61w 12v rail or something along those lines. The unit does not appear to have an 8-pin connector, but does have multiple 6's and a few 6+2s. Are 6+2's essentially equivalent to 8pin, or not?THanks in advance,Noel

According to the manual, yes. The 6pin +2 form an eight pin connector for "modern graphics cards".

Yes, in fact I almost bought a 280 at a more than significant discount which later cancelled; and in that time, I discovered that the earlier Corsiar 620 PSU's such as mine, did not come with that necessary 6+2 but only a pair of 6's. I e-mailed Corsair customer support and they promptly mailed me a 6+2 without charge. According to the Corsiar forum, the 620's are more than capable of running this GPU but the early versions lacked this particular cable.
