Recommended Posts

Guest pmw20c

Hi have recently bought a new pc - Quad core q8200 @2.33ghz 4gb RAM NVIDIA GeFORCE9600 GS Windows Vista 64Installed FSX deluxe on it with accelerator. After anywhere between 30min or 4hours flying i will get a ctd in the error report it will either come up with falting module ntdll.dll or terrain.dll or that the application has stopped interacting with windows. Also i do get a faint crackling and popping sound through the speakers when playing not sure if this has anything to do with it. I have tried deactivating anti-aliasing, turning graphics down, going to trilinier filtering but no change. If i have saved the flight before the crash and reload it will crash at the same place. however if i close and shut the computer down and then come back on and do the same flight again it will work. somtimes lets me do 2 or 3 good length flights other times wont let me do 1!I shut down all firewall and antivirus sofware and all unessery programs before playingheres 3 examples of typical error reports i have hadHope sombody can shed some light on my problems - thanks Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.1stProblem signature: Problem Event Name: AppHangB1 Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Hang Signature: 0b94 Hang Type: 2048 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Hang Signature 1: 7a8aee5f80234a3c4d1c5eefb32df580 Additional Hang Signature 2: 90de Additional Hang Signature 3: 76b25663cdc608a313eb2ffe235d6a22 Additional Hang Signature 4: 0b94 Additional Hang Signature 5: 7a8aee5f80234a3c4d1c5eefb32df580 Additional Hang Signature 6: 90de Additional Hang Signature 7: 76b25663cdc608a313eb2ffe235d6a222ndLog Name: ApplicationSource: Application ErrorDate: 09/02/2009 06:44:46Event ID: 1000Task Category: (100)Level: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: LivingRoomPCDescription:Faulting application fsx.exe, version 10.0.61637.0, time stamp 0x46fadb14, faulting module terrain.dll, version 10.0.61637.0, time stamp 0x46fadb59, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0005595e, process id 0xb4, application start time 0x01c98a7a2e6dd770.Event Xml:<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-02-09T06:44:46.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>2762</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>LivingRoomPC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>fsx.exe</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb14</Data> <Data>terrain.dll</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb59</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>0005595e</Data> <Data>b4</Data> <Data>01c98a7a2e6dd770</Data> </EventData></Event> 3rdLog Name: ApplicationSource: Application ErrorDate: 09/02/2009 06:44:36Event ID: 1000Task Category: (100)Level: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: LivingRoomPCDescription:Faulting application fsx.exe, version 10.0.61637.0, time stamp 0x46fadb14, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a783, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002f8f4, process id 0xb4, application start time 0x01c98a7a2e6dd770.Event Xml:<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-02-09T06:44:36.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>2761</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>LivingRoomPC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>fsx.exe</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb14</Data> <Data>ntdll.dll</Data> <Data>6.0.6001.18000</Data> <Data>4791a783</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>0002f8f4</Data> <Data>b4</Data> <Data>01c98a7a2e6dd770</Data> </EventData></Event>

Do you have any add-ons installed? Those errors are ususally caused by a third party application or a faulty dll in your modules folder.

the only add-on i have is the acceleration expansion pack, is there a way of fixing the dlls in the modules folder or should i just try a fresh install - also the crashes only seem to happen when flying at certain areas, north italy is the most common

Try deleting your fsx.cfg. If it doesn't solve the problem, and since you don't have any addons installed, you better go for a reinstall.

i have now reinstalled fsx and acceleration, not had chance to test whether it crashes or not as i now have a new problem, the add on aircraft that come with acceleration now have no instrument panels, the only one that comes up is the gps window, i have tried reinstalling again but still no panels, what would be causing this?

How did you go, did Fresh install fix things. As in last week, I am getting similar errors, it can happen at the start of a flight or 10 or 20 minutes into it, the faulty module is either Terrian.dll or API.dllThis is the latest error report.Problem signatureProblem Event Name: APPCRASHApplication Name: fsx.exeApplication Version: 10.0.61637.0Application Timestamp: 46fadb14Fault Module Name: terrain.dllFault Module Version: 10.0.61637.0Fault Module Timestamp: 46fadb59Exception Code: c0000005Exception Offset: 000afc44OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1Locale ID: 3081Additional Information 1: f3b5Additional Information 2: 67157acfc10691bf1c01accd62406c5aAdditional Information 3: b4f4Additional Information 4: 686b80d14c6be7494511e7ba36846343Only add on, I've installed in last 2 weeks, is some payware scenery called Real NZ from Godzone.http://www.windowlight.co.nz/acrossthestrait.htmlI've reported problem to them, in case it is to do with there scenery, but I doubt it, as I disablled it and deleted fsx.cfg file and started FSX again and crash justed happened again.Looks like a repair installaiton for me. First time in a over a year I've had to do this.Anyone with suggestions, please post,TIAPhil
