Why would you fly a sim from 2006?

Because I can still buy addons in 2013 to enhance it?

There are other simulators out there, and as nice as some of them are, they don't allow me to purchase addons to enhance them, and fill the gaping holes that exist.

Opus will redraw the entire sky with all new clouds if the METAR changes due to a new update. AS2012 will do it too if you use certain depiction modes, but it looks like they're trying to get rid of that. If Opus has been changed to eliminate this cloud popping, it hasn't been mentioned on Avsim.

Opus is updated almost on a weekly basis, when was the last time you used it? That is one of the things that attracted me to it in the first place, it's work in progress and the developers listen to you!

I could ask for the moon on a stick. The developers might listen and want to do it. That doesn't mean they can or will or will have the time.

Both Active Sky and REX are works in progress too. And the developers listen.

Eventually Opus may surpass its competitors in both quality and quantity of features. I really hope that happens. A startup can often do very well against established competition by being small and flexible, and we're seeing some of that already from Opus. An influx of new ideas is welcome. I'm glad there is an Opus, but there are some features I require that Opus does not yet provide, so I'm staying with Active Sky for now.

So what's the most realistic setting?

Real world weather would be the most realistic, so this option isn't needed.

But if you fly with custom or pre defined weather themes this option makes life more interesting. In the real world weather can remain stable for days or change within minutes, so no setting is more real than the other.

I mean, what the best position for the slider to be in the for the most realistic rate of change? I'm out of state right now so I can't do the lesson like others talked.

There isn't one. As I said, weather can change in an instant or remain stable for days.
