PMDG 747

I have had thePMDG 747 on FS2004 now for a week and cannot get to grips with itHere are my problems:1) How do you contact ATC? I keep crashing into other ground based aircraft or vice versa.2) Every time I form a flight plan it always ends up as 'Not in Database'. I even followed the manual booklet to the letter and the result was 'Not in Database'. Where is the database, how do I access it to get a flight plan that exists?3) On push back, why does the aircraft keep on moving at the end of the pushback even though the parking brake is on?4) Why don't the IRS gyros align? After setting the time to zero seconds, it still says 7 mins. on the display5)Why don't the LNAV and VNAV buttons arm? all they do is flash on and then go off again.6) Why dosen't the aircraft fly in the direction of the heading setting on Autopilot?7)How do you open up the downloaded manuals. All I get is that Windows cannot open this file and to go to the internet to find a programme that will. - Difficult as the PC is not connected to the internet due to remote location. These are just some of the problems I'm facing. I am not computer literate so am I missing something here?Any help would be much appreciated to get some enjoyment back into flight simulation

Seriously you really really really need to read the documentation. This aircraft flies nothing like the defaults. I take it you haven't if you can't even open them up.You need a program like Adobe acrobat installed on your PC to view the docs. Also regarding the pushback, follow the instructions, but there is a slight bug with the 744 if your doing a transit stop. On your second pushback sometimes the tug wont stop and ground wont ask you to apply brakes, just push the pushback button again and the tug will stop.Rob

Thanks for that Rob.I have managed to get a copy of Adobe downloaded and can now read the Documentation.Wow, This is some bit of Kit!!So far I have managed to get the FMC programmed with a Flight Plan and a SID with no problems and am progressing through the Tutorials. With the enjoyment that the Simulation brings, there's going to be a lot of 'happy hours'

If you want to try a long haul flight, I suggest you take a look at my EGLL to KLAX tutorial on the PMDG OPS page here:http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/Long_...EGLL_to_KLAX%29It's written for simmers in your exact position, and guides you through an international flight covering a lot of the aircraft operations and systems. I have had very good feedback on this so far and it seems to help a lot of newbies.CheersCraig
