MD-11 (FS9): Concept of Electrical Synoptic

Recommended Posts

The synoptic for electrics is the only one which doesn't display powered bus lines in green, they're always white. What's the concept behind this exception when compared to e.g. hydraulics and air synoptics?Andreas

See SYS manual ELEC 30.10: The white lines are schematic only, the symbols that represent buses are in fact in green/amber. The short answer is because that is what the actual aircraft that was modelled for the simulation used for symbology. I don't venture to guess what the Douglas engineers were thinking.

And that's what would be interesting: Why have they created this exception? Is there a reason behind this? More and more items start to look "taken out of concept" to me: electrical synoptic doesn't follow the methodology of others, VOR and LOC modes are activated on the MCDU instead of the FCU,... Either the engineers added things later on and had little options where to implement things, or they hid some easter eggs to keep some degree of stress factor in...Andreas
