Forgetting frame rates for a moment, what is the most detailed

"Terrain error factor" and "Terrain Max Vertex Level" that MS will allow in fs2002.cfg file? What are the values? I just got 38m source data for the U.S. and I want to get the most detail out of it. Again, no consideration given to frame rates....Thank you!Christopher

Hi Christopher,The "Terrain error factor" value is controlled by the terrain mesh complexity slider. Setting the slider to 100 is the same as entering TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=1.00000 in fs2002.cfg. (The sim updates this value in the file with your current slider setting after you exit using the Flights.Exit menu.)As for the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL setting, I've tested this quite a bit and see no improvement with settings above 21, even with 9.6m mesh. Where performance is an issue, this can setting can be reduced to 20 with little loss of detail. Regards, Stevewww.fs-traveler.com

Thanks guys!!!The only problem now, is that the landclass is based on 78m resolution, the default in MS, so roads and rivers are off, and sometimes run up the side of mountains that they shouldn't. THe FSGENESIS stuff is really good. Kind of frustrating, b/c otherwise, every place I fly in real life now looks real for the most part in the sim.Ciao,CBP4 1.8768 ram 80 gig hardriveVisiontek Ti4 4600CH yoke/pedalsElite Multi quadrant19" inch monitor-Soundblaster PCI 512Win XPInstrument rated ASEL -236 hoursAOPALawyerPilots Bar Association"Men without dreams are never free, twas thus this way and thus will ever be."

This landclass problem is seen with FSgenesis v latest freeware version of landclass avail on the site. Have not purchased commercial landclass, but it was only supposed to more detailed, not more accurate in terms of placement over the shareware..CB>>>P4 1.8>768 ram >80 gig hardrive>Visiontek Ti4 4600>CH yoke/pedals>Elite Multi quadrant>19" inch monitor->Soundblaster PCI 512>Win XP>>Instrument rated ASEL -236 hours>AOPA>LawyerPilots Bar Association>>>"Men without dreams are never free, twas thus this way and>thus will ever be."P4 1.8768 ram 80 gig hardriveVisiontek Ti4 4600CH yoke/pedalsElite Multi quadrant19" inch monitor-Soundblaster PCI 512Win XPInstrument rated ASEL -224 hoursAOPALawyerPilots Bar Association"Men without dreams are never free, twas thus this way and thus will ever be."
