just a simple question...the paint program that comes with windows ..IF i have a paint kit can i use it with windows paint or do i really have to bye a program to make it work..and if it wont..what would you recommend for someone who NEVER tried painting before...

If I were you I would have a look at the stickies at the top of the page Also do a search for Gimp , it is a free bit of software with some of the tools required to create a re paint I think paint .net is another one though I will stand corrected .IF.. you were going to attempt to do a paint with the windows paint program , then you would need to be an artist because you would have to do the whole livery in one layer!!!And the other problem you will have is if it is a layered paint kit then windows paint will not open it :( And even then you are still going to need DXTbmp to convert your textures to work in FS9/FSXSo really the answer is NoAs I say have a read of the stickies there is some very good advice in thereAnd if you have any more questions post back , It may not be the buisiest board at Avsim but there are some very talented people here who are more than willing to help.I should know because they have helped me many times Mark

I am one of the HD painters that lurks over at OZx, we just completed the bell 206 HD and for my part I used paint.net, I also have CS3 but only use that for the tricky things that PDN cant do, I really enjoy its simplicity and its free, you only need to add a .dll for it to be able to read .PSD (most all paint kits come in this layered format) files.if you need more pointers come on over to the paint forums at www.aussiex.com
