This post is a thank you to all who have shared their ideas on photoscenery and the available sources of orthos. If I do make time I will attempt to get smart at this whole thing. But for now I will probably keep picking out the scenery areas where I am most familiar and try to just have fun!

Some months ago (4, 5, or 6 I'm not sure) I was trying to buy some FSX add-ons on a 50% sale from PC Aviator and their system wouldn't allow me to log on until after that promotion was over. They had evidence that I had been trying to purchase the items for over 12 hours prior to the end of the sale and they acknowledged that their system was known to have this problem but they said the bottom line was the sale was over and I was out of luck

That is appalling customer service, Tom :(

I posted about cal-016 on the web page. Still no response. The lack of support for this product continues to amaze me. I too bought the lower tier of of California to go along with my So Cal Megascenery X. And yes, the colors are way too rich and very dark, almost Armageddon like, but definitely an improvement over generic tiles.

Sent another email to support, and I will probably send one a every day until this is fixed. But good news, the user "AerosoftDeveloper" is going to re-up the file to PCaviator and hopefully there is someone there who can post a new link. :(

I've sent two emails so far and no response. I also joined the MegaScenery forums a couple of days ago, but so far haven't been approved to post. SocalX File 8 is still corrupt (just tried again). It seems like a lot of companies don't realize how much future revenue they lose by not being on the ball with customer service.

Totally unacceptable. And frankly disgusting. They will take your money anytime and in an instant. :( Once they have your money they treat you like dirt.The best thing to do is simply spread the word.STAY AWAY FROM PC AVAITOR and MEGASCENERY EARTH!!! AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!I personally have no tolerance for poor customer service. That's what happens when scumbags run a business.-jk

Cal-016 has been repaired and re-upped. The only reason I know this is because I downloaded it for the 5th time. Lol. Don't understand what's so hard about replying to an email. Anyway, it seems to be working now.

Hi Chris,Yeah I thought so. I didn't stomp up & down and swear to never buy from them again at the time but until I tried to buy this chunk of MSE WA from their MegaScenery site I haven't been so inclined. This one will end any dealings between PC Aviator and myself. If I can't get it from another source I just don't need it that bad.So far as MSE WA goes it is probably for the best. What shots I have seen the coloring doesn't look natural at all. It is probably better than the FU3 scenery but only because of the much higher resolution and far larger area of coverage. The MSE San Francisco area scenery doesn't look near as good as the old FU2 scenery (which always did have far more natural coloring than did the FU3 scenery).The one thing I haven't figured out yet is if my boycott extends to AeroSoft or not. They still have some very nice FSX sceneries that I don't have and they are reasonably priced. But if I do decide to purchase any more of their stuff all it would take would be one slip of this kind from their sales site and I could do without those as well.You don't happen to know if GEX (Ground Environment X) and FEX (Flight Environment X) are any good do you? There is an Aerosoft Germany (the good one) and an Aerosoft Austrailia (the bad one that makes megacrapola Earth).Don't boycott Aerosoft Germany as they seem to have very good customer service and yes, they do produce excellent sceneries (like Manhattan X).Make sure you get the right Aerosoft! :( -jk

I've been told that as well on Feb 10th about another problem I had with a file.Still waiting....Very, very, bad support, I will never buy from them again .

megasceneryearth - it is a completely different product than the originally megascenery line.this is the product of different designers in for a quick dollar - with tiles produced on a quick run.conclusion: do not expect the same quality of original megascenery line !! in megasceneryearth ! :( as it is not the same.

I am running GEX and Ultimate Terrain X UTX all for USA/Canada. The enhancement areas are in the landclass roads and coastlines. I really would like to be able to compare these to the Orbx Australia scenery, but I can't quite find a solution similar to these products for North America. Any ideas?Keith

FTX is UTX and GEX in one: you get (to put it very simply) new ground textures (like GEX) and autogen. with real life roads and waters (like UTX). You won't find anything similar for North America. Well, not until FTX for North America will be released.

Pardon me for going a bit OT, but if we're talking customer service in the flightsim industry, I have to give FS Genesis its due for it's excellent customer service.I was overcharged on a package of Genesis terrain mesh I bought, my discount wasn't right. (It was a problem of the website being a day or so out of date with the new discount options.) I sent an email asking what was going on and within a couple of hours I had an explanation and apology from the FS Genesis boss himself and my Master Charge had been credited the overcharge. On top of that I was offered a free terrain mesh of my choice, regardless of price. I would have felt bad taking it so I thanked him and said no.But that is how you treat your customers. And it's good business, I kept buying their stuff.Ok, I'm off my soapbox.
