Question re London City ILS glideslope

I know why Runway 10 has a 5.5 degree slope -- to clear the Canary Wharf buildings. But, does anybody know why Runway 28 has this steep glideslope as well??Thanks Barry

HiI think it is also to do with noise regulations in the local area and also so that aircraft can fly at a certain height and then descend quicker to lander than normal because of the surrounding suburban areas. Just my opinion.Maybe someone might have the proper answer but thats my feeling on it.

Maybe someone might have the proper answer but thats my feeling on it.Your feeling is spot-on - it's to keep the noise "footprint" as small as possible. If my memory serves me correctly, during testing and the early days of operation, the ILS glideslope was set a 7 degrees when the only aircraft using City was the Dash-7. As this type was already out of production, it was reduced to 5.5 degrees allowing many more types to use the airpoprt.PeteP
