Moving eyepoint back without seeing the seats from behind ?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I bought a second 26 inch monitor with the intention to see more left/right from the MD-11 ( FSX ) virtual cockpit. However, When using 2 monitors in expanded mode ( through a DualHead2Go ) automatically everything is twice as big , so I do not get a wider view. When moving the eyepoint back to the position I want I end up just behind the seats , so facing them from behind.See the attached screenshot. The idea was having the virtual cockpit like I had with 1 monitor, but being able to see more left/right.In combination with my Hat track an unbeatble combination I thought. Is there a way I can remove those seats ? I was even thinking of making the head support texturepart transparant.Or does someone has another suggestion ?Thanks.

Hi ,I am using 3 monitors with Triplehead to go.This behavior is normal. Your view(point) is being stretched over the 2 monitors. You can maybe zoom out a little bit but that give distortion.Actually, you do see more of the scenery on 2 monitors (in my case 3) then with 1 monitor.I have added TrackIR to my hardware allowing me to rotate my head "in the game" so to speak which gives me a totalimmersion into the cockpit.Best thing I ever bought : triplehead2go and track IR

I have ave added TrackIR to my hardware allowing me to rotate my head "in the game" so to speak which gives me a totalimmersion into the cockpit.Best thing I ever bought : triplehead2go and track IRThe Hat track I have from VRInsight does the same. However I would like to get rid of the seats head support ; then I will have the view I would like to have. I found the VC textures and I will try making the seat parts invisible. ; then probably I will get what I want. But if there is an easy way to get rid of them , like it is possible with the yokes, I would very much like to know.

I'm using TrackIR with a single 42" in VC I just click on the seats and they slide back and out of the way. Obvious question but you have tried that right?Rob

I have tried with clicking on the seats, but they move not far enough backwards for the view I would like to have.

Get "Walk and Follow" and you are set. I have Active Camera since I use FS9 and I have no problem at all to movebackvards without having the sets in way of the eypoint. You then use zoom + - and scroll your mouse./ Leffe

Sir/Madam,you have to run FSX in widescreen mode, this can be set within the fsx.cfg . With that setting I was able to use 3 19" screens without any obstruction from the flight deck seats. Unfortunately that widescreen mode is not available with FS9 so I had to abandon the TripleHead2Go. But if you fly FSX only this will solve your problem.Regards,Markus

FSX is running in Widescreen mode already. What I want is my eyepoint just behind the seat to get a wider view. This may not be the most realistic, but gives the most beautifull view.I will continue to make the head rest texture transparant.

I have this same issue with other planes. To bad developers don't do the same thing with seats as they do with yokes, have click spot or switch to lower it or remove it.Jeff P.
