Nice surprise replacing AP in Carenado C182Q

Recommended Posts

So glad I found this thread as I love the Carenado Cessna's but I absolutely can't stand that Navomatic for IFR flying. I was able to swap out the Navomatic's just fine but what line to do I need to remark out in the aircraft.cfg to get rid of the dome light. It's nice that Carenado separated the dome light from the instrument lights in their latest releases but I'd love to at least kill the dome light in the Cessna's.Is this the line to remark out in the aircraft.cfg?light_panel = 0, 5, 17I tried but I still get the bright flood dome light whenever I switch the instrument panel lights on.

I would also like know to know what line to comment out to remove the bright dome light, as well, if the poster above with the GNS 430 GPS and Friendly Panels stack in their Caranado 182Q Radio Stack could post their Panel.cfg file I would be MUCH appreciated

The dome would be the VC light, in the Aircraft.cfg file. Scroll down till you see the Lights section, should look like this:[lights]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landinglight.0 = 3, -3.09, -18.1, 3.03, fx_navredcarenqlight.1 = 3, -3.09, 18.1, 3.03, fx_navgrecarenqlight.2 = 4, -3.0, 0.0, 1.3, fx_vclightcarlight.3 = 1,-20.42, 0, 6.63, fx_beaconcarenqlight.4 = 3,-20.37, 0, 1.46, fx_navwhicarenqlight.5 = 2, -3.33, 18.24, 3, fx_strobecarenqlight.6 = 2, -3.33, -18.24, 3, fx_strobecarenqIf you REALLY must not have the VC light, just / (slash) it out, so it will look like this:[lights]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landinglight.0 = 3, -3.09, -18.1, 3.03, fx_navredcarenqlight.1 = 3, -3.09, 18.1, 3.03, fx_navgrecarenq//light.2 = 4, -3.0, 0.0, 1.3, fx_vclightcarlight.2 = 1,-20.42, 0, 6.63, fx_beaconcarenqlight.3 = 3,-20.37, 0, 1.46, fx_navwhicarenqlight.4 = 2, -3.33, 18.24, 3, fx_strobecarenqlight.5 = 2, -3.33, -18.24, 3, fx_strobecarenq then update the numbers that trail it as shown above. Make a backup of your Aircraft.cfg file before you edit it!

Please not that I do not use the 2D panel, thus made no changes to it, only the VC, here is the 182Q for the RXP430, RXP FLT 'N', RXP FLT 'T', and Friendly Panel radio Only the Cessna 152 and 172N have 3D knobs sofar and all new releases will probably have these. However, the FSX native releases of older Carenado Cessna's as well as the Cherokee 180F have perfectly editable radiostacks. (I expect the panels of the future FSX native release of the Carenado Cessna 210, the Piper Archer, Piper Dakota and the Beechcrafts to be editable as well). Not so the U206G; it does not have 3D knobs, but the stack isn't modelled flat, so adding a Garmin in the nav/com1 slot results in a nice black stripe across the unit (I believe the same goes for the Mooney). It is fun though these panels of the older Carenado aircraft can be edited easily with Notepad or FS Panelstudio. I have multiple panel configurations for my 182Q and 182RG, using addon gauges by Friendly Panels, Reality XP and Simflyer. Too bad I cannot diversify my Cessna 152 and Cessna 172 because of the knobs :(
I note that the new Carendo C208 has an option for 3D knobs, you can switch them on or off. Seems like a good compromise to me.
