Disapearing Water

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a few scenery addons and one plane. I took a quick flight from my home airport in long Island NY and noticed, most of the water is gone and had been replaced with desert textures. I played around with my scenery settings and adjusted the priority of some of the layers, but it made no difference. I unchecked the new scenery areas I just install and the problem was still there. I eventually tracked the issue down to UTX default excluded area entry. When unchecked, the water is back and all looks normal. I figured this must have some undesirable effect, im not noticing yet, so I rechecked it and moved it down so it is just above the default scenery listing. So far it works and looks fine. I have not noticed any issues, but is this the right way to fix this? or should I just re-install UTX again? Im thinking my scenery config got changed or corrupted some how when I installed the new scenery. Thanks for any advice.Rob

You need to put the entries back the way they were. I am assuming you have SP2 of FSX installed? Acceleration? There are patches available for UTX to stop this issue.See herehttp://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=19and herehttp://www.scenerysolutions.com/

Sounds as if one of the scenery addons "changed" your Terrain.Cfg file. UTX makes many additons to Terrain.cfg. If it is changed back to default status or somehow "deactivated" for another program being turned on or off, these additions are no longer recognized. All that is needed is to start the UTX setup tool which will do a verification of the Terrain.Cfg file and if it finds it's entries missing it will reinsert the necessary data. No need to uninstall or reinstall.
